A bill to legalize recreational marijauna in Illinois needs only the signature of Gov. J.B. Pritzker to become law. Colorado has had legal recreational marijuana since 2014. The Colorado Division of Criminal Justice last year came out with an analysis of the effects of the state's legalization of retail sales of marijuana since it went into effect in 2014. It found teen use had not increased, but hospital visits and fatal accidents associated with marijuana use increased. The authors cautioned that many factors can influence the statistics in the report, including people's willingness to admit marijuana use now that it's legalized in the state. Here is a rundown of some of the major findings.

SS will never be flush with cash unfortunately- the US will give any extra money to illegals- and to terrorist nations, but not to our elderly, disabled and veterans to pay back the massive funds the gov stole from workers by dipping into their ‘lock box’
We currently spend over $600 BILLION DOLLARS per year on illegals for direct and indirect charges they cause us- infact- that $600 billion figure was from nearly 20 years ago i believe- it’s likely over $1 Trillion dollars per year now- that go to paying for illegals to be here in our country- Some illegals, and anchor babies families get over $45,000 per year- while many seniors get as little as $800 per month to live on (if they didn’t work high paying jobs, they get minimum which is around $800 per month SS)
Sadly our country’s mantra has become “Illegals come first- citizens second”

Uptick in folks getting too high and running to the emergency room having a panic attack....yep I can see that too especially with newbies...I know folks who can only get so high...hit after hit of dab or live resin and they just grin right through it all where as most folks would be scared to death especially women

The rest of the stats are not too firm and hard to attribute to pot

THC is detectable for eons way beyond when folks are high
It’s like if you took hair samples of all wrecks victims I bet 75% show alcohol use at some point but it’d be way past intoxication state
You can show the THC concentration used in Colorado even two weeks after smoking
Detectable THC is like relatives who won’t leave and it shows up weeks after the buzz is gone
Plus accident THC correlation doesn’t mention other factors like booze or pain meds etc

Never directly thought of that, though I definitely envisioned lots of impaired drivers all over the place. Good point.
On the other hand, Mississippi's premiums went up even more, so other factors may be at play.
I know scores of children born to women who smoked some weed daily and also some who drank wine or beer daily in moderate amounts and even God forbid some who smoked cigarettes

Gambling made a ton of money for Vegas when it was the only place in the country where you could gamble. Money flowed in from every other state. Every time a state legalizes gambling, it reduces the number of people that go to Vegas. Once enough states legalize gambling, it becomes revenue neutral, because all gambling does is shift money from one person to another without producing anything.
Marijuana legalization is going to increase the number of people smoking marijuana, and it will reduce their ability to function. It will end up being a drain on the state, cause mental health costs will go up, and as Eric Cartman said, you'll end up with hippie drum circles showing up in your back yard.
That is always how they sell tax increases: It’s for the children.
And on every block, there are one or two families that are convinced that if the school had a pool, their kid would be a standout swimmer...

Actually, if they’re testing for actual THC, rather than metabolites, that should correspond to actual current THC levels. It’s (from my understanding) the metabolites that can show up long after (regular) use.
I’m not convinced that the .5 ng/ml figure represents actual impairment, either, especially for regular users.
I share your doubts about the relevance of this figure. And we know the police will distort statistics to support a viewpoint. Like including passengers or drivers who were 100% not at fault in drinking driving statistics.

Actually that’s dues to some giant unusually destructive hailstorms that have hit the state for the last 4 or 5 years. If she isn’t an actuary, she has no clue.
Yes. If we got rid of the Welfare State and forced people to be responsible for themselves, the number of people messing with drugs and risking personal disaster would greatly decrease. As long as Big Govt and the taxpayers are available to rescue people, some people will choose to maximize their fun — because, hey, what’s the worst that could happen??
