I don’t like what Manafort did, but it was a white collar crime. Many white collar criminals get placed in minimum security facilities. They aren’t violent offenders and so don’t present a physical threat.
Placing Manafort at Rikers seems like over the top punishment. They’ve tried to break this guy any way they could, assuming he had the goods on Trump.
These news commentators should be calling the question of just punishment here. Instead they laugh and whoop it up as if treating a prisoner this way is somehow funny.
This is an evil tactic used by governments we’ve trashed our whole adult lives. Funny?
Further, if this guy was Black they’d be singing a much different tune. Since it’s a white male, they deem it as just. Even more racism from the Left.
Of course the fact he spent months working with the Trump Campaign, is the real crime here. As I understand it, they weren’t going to prosecute him until Mueller took over the Collusion charade.
1. Blanket pardon for all federal criminal convictions
2. Direct the US Solicitor General to file a suit against the State of New York on Manafort's behalf alleging a violation of the 8th Amendment
