BTW, about the Smokey Mountain Railroad ride...If you want to go in the fall to see the colors, you need reservations made early, and I mean EARLY...like maybe April/May...

Yes, we saw a lot of bikers almost everywhere in the area: Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, in the Park, along US 19 / the Oconaluftee River, etc. I'd kinda like to get my Mazda MX-3 fixed up and take it through there, someday, but, it's not a good car for a camping trip!!!

I'd sort of forgotten that, but, yeah. The "Tree of Shame". I guess they keep adding to it. I wonder what an analogous pile of car parts from the last 40 years or so would look like?

I'd forgotten that too (although we were there early summer.) Now that I think about it, it seems to me we called and were told "all booked up", or something to that effect.
