Trump and the Irish

As an Irishman, I’m embarrassed at the treatment of the President of the United States on his recent visit to Ireland. His shabby reception in Ireland contrasts sharply with the red carpet treatment in London. Media reports that the Leo Varadkar (the Irish Prime Minister/Taoiseach) refused to meet at the Trump resort at Doonbeg. The hostile media is having a field day with this.

Vox reported

President Trump will meet the Irish prime minister -- at the airport. Trump reportedly wanted to go to his golf course in Ireland. The Irish government said no. So they’re meeting at the airport instead.

The Washington Post reporter tweeted scornfully:

Seriously, the president’s bilateral meeting with Irish PM Varadkar is going to take place at the VIP lounge at Shannon. Trump wanted it at his nearby golf club. The Irish said no thanks. So, across from the Duty Free and next to the Irish Coffee bar at the airport. Perfect.

This is a most shabby and ungrateful manner in which to treat the leader of the country that has contributed greatly to Ireland’s prosperity. Just a few miles from my location, countless U.S. companies employ thousands of well-paid workers. This rosy situation is repeated countrywide. In addition, the U.S. has absorbed vast numbers of surplus Irish labor over many years. Many Irish in the U.S. are legal, but others are not. In his meeting with President Trump, Leo Varkadkar’s concerns in this regard are twofold (1) To sort out the situation of the Irish illegals in the U.S. and (2) to keep open the U.S. safely valve to dispose of surplus Irish labour. What is Leo Varkadkar willing to give in return -- just a few worthless crumbs?

Leo Varkadkar. Yep, a full blooded Irishman...

“He was 38 years old on his election as Taoiseach, becoming the youngest person to hold the office.[2] During the 2015 same-sex marriage referendum, he came out as gay – the first Irish government Minister to do so.[3] He is Ireland’s first, and the world’s fourth, openly gay head of government in modern times.[4] He is also the first Irish government leader of Indian heritage.”

Ireland could not have been neutral during WWI, there being no independent Ireland and still being part of the UK. Plenty of Irish soldiers were in the British armed forces fighting against Germany and its allies.

Plenty of Irish Free State soldiers and citizens were in Britain’s armed forces during WWII as well in spite of the Free State’s “neutral” stance; they were quite blacklisted by the Free State and subsequent Irish Republic after the war ended.

Occupied Ireland was part of the UK in WWI; the Easter Rebellion (with rifles supplied by Germany) was supposed to address that.

In WWII, Ireland was neutral because The Devil still occupied the north of Ireland; why would they defend England as it was bombed by Germany? If anything, there was hope for union with the north in an English defeat.

“Tax breaks and multinational corporations have given the country economic prosperity, but in a rush to “modernize” and reject their past,”

Ireland has gone from one of the most conservative country in Europe to one of its most liberal.

Blame it on “affluenza”. It’s the same all over the western world.

Ironically the disease of affluenza is also its own eventual cure. Sadly though, it’s not a pretty ending. As it dismantle all the past values that created the wealth, any people suffering from it will soon enough regress to chaos, suffering and poverty... until the “Gods Of The Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!”

I noticed there was no welcoming delegation at the plane steps when Trump arrived in Shannon.

“is it primarily a problem of a few people in the government or is it more a societal sickness, or what?”

Well, who elects these people in the government?

In terms of St. Patrick, I suspect more European Catholics would have preferred to see Bolshevism defeated. Britain and the US were primarily Protestant countries, allied with atheist Soviets. Most “Catholic” countries either supported the Axis or remained neutral; Spain also realized that when Nazism fought Bolshevism, there were no “good guys”. The Catholic populations closer to Bolshevism (Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Ukraine) didn’t have the luxury of neutrality - they saw Stalin up close & personal in the Spanish Civil War, the invasion of eastern Poland, and the Winter War with Finland (and they saw the West do nothing in any of those cases; they were on their own).

They loved Obama. The Irish are serious pro-Muslim lefties, and while they hate the Catholic Church now, they’re very devoted to Pope Frankie (who is a serious pro-Muslim lefty).

Yeah something has happened to Morgan. I still think he’s anti-2A but he seems to have had a conversion of sorts.

This is just me, but I think Piers Morgan the 2nd Amendment hater only wanted to oblige PDJT to put on that bowler hat and mess up his forward wave. It’s obvious no one asked what Trump’s hat size is.

Anyway, whoever said that Ireland’s greatest export is people is spot on; they’ve been escaping since the 1840’s. Eire’s gone full secular; the Irish Mafia that once insured most American Catholics would know only Irish priests and Bishops is long gone. The Emerald Isle is now only a source of Jameson’s and Guinness and with the Muslim incursion that will change as well.

Electing a Hindu faggie as Taoiseach is the cherry on top.

The (Liberal) members of the Band U2 didn’t want Ireland to spend their hard earned Tax Dollars used to pay for anything having to do with POTUS Trump.

Oh wait, they all moved to the United States to avoid paying the astronomical Income Taxes in Ireland.

Never mind...

Hi.

“Ireland could not have been neutral during WWI, there being no independent Ireland “

Good point, but my grandfather and his brothers didn’t want to fight with the English in WWI.

Just sayin

With an Indian faggot as Prime Minister it's no surprise. The Ireland of my ancestors,a good, decent and proud nation,is now dead and cold.
