Oregon set to change the way it awards Electoral College votes [COMPACT]
The Oregonian ^ | June 6, 2019 | Chris Lehman

SALEM – Oregon is close to becoming the 15th state to signal that it will award its Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who receives the most votes nationwide.

On a 37-22 party line vote, the Democratic majority in the Oregon House sent Senate Bill 870 to the desk of Democratic Gov. Kate Brown, who has indicated her support.

Instead, said Rep. Allisa Keny-Guyer, D-Portland, the compact would make Oregon more relevant during presidential campaigns. “The Republican presidential candidates write Oregon totally off, and the Democratic candidates take Oregon for granted,” she said. “So we are just relegated to being a spectator state.”

Oh, there will be a lot of people crying out that they thought they were just thieves and not traitors.

“You are a highly educated person, aren’t you?”

“Yes.”

“You went to law school?”

“Yes.”

“Then don’t insult us by saying you were too stupid to know that your actions were traitorous to your fellow American citizens. You did know. It’s just that the money was more important to you. You would sell your fellow Americans into slavery and slaughter for money.”

Well if a Dem wins presidentcy by this method, it would have to go to SC because they will be no standing until after the fact. I can’t see Repubs not certifying a Dem President if they win. SC won’t want to reverse a sitting Presidential win so they will refuse to hear the case.

This is where this is going.

This is why DNC/Soros funded shadow groups have been organizing mass migrations into our country. They’ll also have the vote harvesting and illegal voting systems running like a well oiled machine in 2020, and will be well protected by the BoE and AG of each of those same states.

The disenfranchisement of you citizen voters is going all according to plan.

Republicans should leave the blue states since their votes do not count no matter what happens with this

By basing the award of their electoral votes on the voting in other states (which have varying degrees of standards in their election processes) this likely violates the equal protection clause. It also disenfranchises the voters of Oregon, as it does not award their electors based on the wishes of the Oregon voters, but rather on a non-existent construct: the national popular vote.

You have just given me pause to think about the NPV movement. This sounds like it may be a legitimate argument AGAINST the Constitutionality of states adhering to this stupid proposal. Thank you.

My position is that while this is an utterly IGNORANT way of allotting electoral votes, it would stand Constitutional scrutiny because states are allowed to allocate EVs in any way they choose...but your invocation of the 14th gives me pause.

But the sweet irony if Trump wins the popular vote and all these too smart by half a-holes see their EC votes go to him?

I’d pay for that video of their heads exploding.

This issue needs to be settled before 2020 or it has the potential of throwing the election into chaos.

Bush vs Gore will look like a lovers spat.

All existing compacts between States involving boundary issues, water rights management, power, etc. have been executed with the permission of the Congress. This compact would be subject to the same caveat, it would require the approval of Congress. Since this would destroy the political power of all of the small states, it’s very unlikely to receive Congressional approval even if the Democrats controlled both Houses. This stuff doesn’t count, a freebee for Democrat controlled states. Interestingly, the Democrat Governor of Nevada vetoed this compact. Some Democrats get it.

Someone needs to sue the 15 states that is bypassing the Constitution! This is unconstitutional...

I do not know of any filings to date in any of the states or federal court to counter these initiatives.

This has the making of destroying whatever remains of the US Constitution.

I guess mob rule will now apply.

God help the United States

Perhaps in his second term Trump will follow through on his promise to clean up election fraud. Purging registration rolls of the dead, voters voting in two states, voter ID, etc. To the left their scam is great until you start counting only legitimate votes.

I predict a Trump popular vote history greater than Reagan’s. Even with all the slimy scumbags cheating

I’m no lawyer, but it seems unconstitutional to me to award a state’s electoral college votes to a candidate based on the votes of OTHER states. Isn’t that disenfranchising voters on a massive scale?

Even if a state passes this law, and their governor signs it, it doesn’t affect how their electoral votes are distributed. The laws only go into effect if enough states pass them that they would have had an electoral majority any way.

No, it’s not.

The NPVIC is nothing more than a huge scam. Let’s be clear: The only states that have passed such laws so are are states that have had Democratic majorities in both their legislature branches and the governor’s office. So if the country is at a point where enough states have signed on to reach 270 EV’s, then the country is well beyond screwed by that point anyway.

In any case, I wrote about a particular scenario where someone like Trump wins the popular vote but loses the electoral college. Let’s say California voted overwhelmingly for the communist psycho, aka the Democrat, but because of the Compact, they have to tell their electors to vote for the Republican.

Do you REALLY think that the state would not renege on the Compact? I’m sure they could find teems of lawyers who would instantly take it to court to allow California to renege on their end of the Compact, thus allowing the Democrat to win.

Here is the article written two and a half years ago that’s pertinent today: http://bit.ly/NPVIC_backstab
