Most progressive place but sharpest contempt for poor people.
Most open place, but least tolerance of differences.
The creepy part about Facebook culture:
All employees are REQUIRED to be evaluated twice yearly on a 1-5 scale by 3 people who know them at Facebook, and none of them can be the 3 people YOU evaluated. You can’t roll over those same evaluators each year, either. So a good habit is to always be grooming 3 people for that purpose.
So it’s IMPOSSIBLE to be genuinely nice at Facebook —your approach will ALWAYS be construed as this semi-creepy RECRUITING pitch, akin to the awkward friendliness of a military recruiter, scientologist, or MLM salesman. And you will take that same view of others, too.
You’re REQUIRED to be nice, and there’s no such thing as sincerity at Facebook.
It’s 100% fake, 100% of the time.
The recruiter told me a facebook once your hired you do this process that seemed similar to rushing fraternities to determined which group (they had some creepy name for their corporate divisions too).
All in all a weird experience - they are probably not in business in 10 years - oh right its an NSA front I take that back.
