Donald Trump wants investigation into Australia's role in 'Russian hoax'
Guardian ^

Posted on 05/24/2019 5:03:04 PM PDT by ameribbean expat

It is a potentially explosive development for the historically solid US-Australian alliance and the first time Trump has publicly named Australia while discussing what he calls the “Russia hoax” and “witch hunt”.

Trump said on Friday he had declassified “potentially millions of pages” of intelligence documents related to surveillance activities on his campaign and Barr would be in charge of analysing it.

“So what I’ve done is I’ve declassified everything,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Friday before leaving on a trip to Japan.

“He can look and I hope he looks at the UK and I hope he looks at Australia and I hope he looks at Ukraine.

“I hope he looks at everything, because there was a hoax that was perpetrated on our country.”

Australian Government Confirms Official Role in “Spygate”…
CONSERVATIVE TREEHOUSE ^ | 4/18/2019 | SUNDANCE
FR Posted on 4/20/2019, 9:08:18 PM by bitt

In response to media inquiry and FOIA demands, the government of Australia formally admitted today to the role of High Commissioner Alexander Downer and his engagements with George Papadopoulos in 2016.

The timing coincides with the Mueller Report release, which states it was information about this engagement from Alexander Downer that opened the FBI counterintelligence investigation in July 2016.

The Australian government cited the conclusion of the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation as the background for their willingness to comply with an 15-month-old FOIA request from Buzzfeed News.

You don’t have to be a commie to like money and the Clintons mean money. Big money. Tax-free money. Secret bank account money. Just sayin’

A key player in the Clinton Foundation foreign donor fraud was then-NYAG Eric Schneiderman who was connected to Obama.

Jan 21, 2012---Then-US Pres Obama is greeted by NYAG Eric Schneiderman as he leaves Air Force One
at Albany Intl Airport in upstate Colonie, NY. (reported by Lori Van Buren / Albany Times Union)

No sooner had Schneiderman been named by Obama in his 2012 SOTU address to lead a mortgage abuse unit to investigate and redress the perceived wrongs committed by Wall Street in connection with the sub-prime mortgage crisis, Schneiderman fired his first shot, filing a suit alleging that several major banks and a mortgage registration service engaged in fraudulent foreclosures.

This is the infamous Obama scheme to shakedown banks. Billions in settlements recovered went not to the mtge holders......the billions were handed over by Obama to leftist groups like La Raza and Acorn for vote buying schemes.

Of course, Schneiderman can account for every penny he collected (smirk).

================================

Schneiderman was a member of Clinton’s “leadership council” in New York and a fierce critic of Donald Trump.

BACKSTORY From 2001-2005 there was an ongoing investigation into the Clinton Foundation. Guess who took over this investigation in 2002? None other than Comey. Comey was the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York from January 2002 to December 2003. A Grand Jury had been empanelled. Governments from around the world had donated to the “Clinton Charity”. Yet, from 2001 to 2003 none of those “Donations” to the Clinton Foundation were declared. nypost.com

Then-State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman gave the Clinton Foundation a pass on identifying foreign donors in its charitable filings — making it impossible to know if it got any special favors while Hillary Clinton was secretary of state, according to a Scripps News report.

Scripps News found that the foundation and its subsidiary, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, took in $225 million in government donations between 2010 and 2014. New York’s charity law clearly states: “Organizations that received a contribution or grant from a government agency during the reporting period shall include the name of each agency from which contributions were received and the amount of each contribution.”

But both the foundation and the CHAI failed to do that, and Schneiderman, a member of Clinton’s “leadership council” in New York and a fierce critic of Donald Trump, did nothing about it.

Other charities complied, including the George W. Bush foundation, which reported receiving $5 million from Saudi Arabia and $500,000 from Kuwait.

On its website, the Clinton Foundation reveals its foreign donors, but using only broad ranges, such as $5 million to $10 million, without any time frames. The IRS doesn’t require such disclosures.

Hillary and smirking suck-up, Eric Schneiderman (right). Schneiderman was recently ousted from office, outed as a full-blown pervert, office after women came forward saying he spat at, slapped, and choked women he was intimate with. The lawman even threatened to tap a women's phone.

I don't have links to all of the articles I've read on this over the last few weeks or the things I've seen on television about it. I also, obviously can't link to the conversations I've had about it - I know a lot of people in the Australian political and diplomatic communities as friends - I even know Downer himself, slightly, although haven't spoken to him since 2015 so certainly haven't discussed this with him (and probably wouldn't anyway).

So this isn't where I read the information (I think it was an article in The Australian from around the same date - but it's what I've been able to find quickly and seems likely to have drawn on the same sources.

'Romantic encounter' set off Australia's role in triggering Donald Trump investigation

This is a new article The drink that started the Mueller investigation: George Papadopoulos and Alexander Downer tell us everything

The meeting was arranged by Erika Thompson, an Australian who was a political counsellor at Australia's London High Commission and whose partner worked at the Israeli embassy.

He suggested that Mr Downer should meet Mr Papadopoulos.

The detail these are missing that I've heard from other sources is that 'political counsellor' (I've now checked his name Christian Cantor) was a friend (or at least acquaintance) of Papadopoulous and he introduced Papadopoulous and Thompson, and it was at that meeting Papadopoulous asked if she could arrange for him to meet Downer.

Like I say, I'd love an official inquiry into all this - to make it all clearer. But I'd very surprised if it emerged Downer did anything inappapropriate.

It comes down to the word of a man who has been convicted in the United States of lying to the FBI versus the word of a man who has served his country with distinction for forty years, and who has a personal history of utter commitment to both the Australian-United States alliance, and conservative politics.

As an outsider looking dimly in, and just reading what the msm produces...

I get the feelz that Downer got played by the bad guys too.

And, in some ways, it feels a bit like at the beginning of the Afghan war when the msm couldn’t distinguish between the taliban and AQ.

From what I’ve been able to understand, NZ was more active in allowing itself to be used as a backdoor for US agents to spy on US citizens rather than Oz. And of course, to msm, one is the other is the other.

I'm going to believe Papadopulous long before I believe Downer. Sure Papdop was naive in that meeting. But Downer reported this to the FBI (according to Mueller): the Trump Campaign had received indications from the Russian government that it could assist the Campaign through the anonymous release of information that would be damaging to Hillary Clinton.

"Trump Campaign" is Papadop. "Russian government" is Mifsud. Downer essentially trumped up a charge against the Trump campaign that would have been meaningless if described accurately.

The first link definitely doesn’t help, it doesn’t say how/why they met and has falsehoods that even Downer contradicts in his Bolt interview. The second link is the same one I gave you.

I appreciate your effort but there is no substantiation that “Papadopoulos requested the meeting.”

The fact that Mueller convicted Papadopoulos of lying to the FBI is the weakest support you could possibly come up with FWIW.

The meeting was either on May 10th or May 6th 2016 - Downer’s diary says May 10th, and he and Papadopoulous both gave that date, but the Mueller report says May 6th. I think the May 10th date is probably correct (I wonder if May 6th is when Papadopolous met Erika Thompson), but either way, by May 3rd 2016, Trump wasn’t just a nominee, he was considered the presumptive nominee after his victory in the Indiana Primary and the withdrawal of Ted Cruz and John Kasich. Downer is correctly quoted in saying he was still just a candidate and hadn’t won the nomination, but do you honestly believe he didn’t know that Trump was already well ahead of any other Republican candidate?

I have no idea what Downer knew at the time but he was saying it specifically to downplay the significance of it. That severely undercuts your efforts to make it a significant fact.

I'm going to believe Papadopulous long before I believe Downer.

Then I think you're foolish.

the Trump Campaign had received indications from the Russian government that it could assist the Campaign through the anonymous release of information that would be damaging to Hillary Clinton.

I haven't checked that but assuming it's accurate, if that is the information Downer passed on after meeting with Papadopoulous, I really don't see what the problem is. Would you expect the representative of the Australian government in the United Kingdom not to pass on information like that to Canberra if he was given it. Would you expect him to sit on his hands and do nothing?

It is part of his job to report information to the Australian government.

Information that Russians had dirt on a former US Secretary of State is definitely information that should be passed on.

I Think you are going to be proven very wrong. The Brits and Aussies were up to their eyeballs in colluding with the Obama Adminstration in order to spy on and undermine Trumps candidacy and Presidency. This was a set up. The Truth is coming and it is going to be embarrassing to some of our allies. They didn’t want Trump to be President and they wanted to ingratiate themselves with the incoming Clinton Administration. None of these people thought a Trump would win, so they went along to get along.

Ocaam’s Razor.
