I didn’t realize all those attempts were made on her life.
From England myself. We in Canada just observed Victoria Day as a statutory holiday last Monday. Striking portrait of her in her youth and beauty. Thanks for the post.
200th birthday?
One weird fact would be she’s 200 years old.
Fact: It was Queen Victoria’s daughter (also called Victoria) who started the tradition of “Here Comes the Bride” at her own wedding, by insisting on the tune from Act III of Wagner’s then new Opera “Lohengrin”. It replaced old traditional hymns as the musical centerpiece of the bridal procession arrival at a wedding...
Morticians hate her :)
LOL!
The Kenyan used the Resolute desk as his footstool. He was and is a Cretin.
She sent condolences to Mary Todd Lincoln after the assassination and they corresponded for a short time.
Fine, I’ll do it
1. Her first name wasnt really Victoria (Alexandrina)
2. She survived at least eight assassination attemptssome more serious than others
3. She spent almost seven years pregnant (not every single month of course)
4. She proposed to Prince Albert
5. The fancy desk in the Oval Office was a gift from Queen Victoria
Well a lot of us know that last one from National Treasure
When Victoria passed away she was with her cousin the Crown Prince of Germany and reportedly died in his arms. During that period the music of both national anthems was to what we know as God Save the King.
6. Her grandchildren were a menace.
“She spent almost seven years pregnant”
I’ve heard doctors say “the baby doesn’t want to come out” but that is ridiculous!
Long ago life was clean
Sex was bad, called obscene
And the rich were so mean
Stately homes for the Lords
Croquet lawns, village greens
Victoria was my queen
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, ‘toria
I was born, lucky me
In a land that I love
Though I am poor, I am free
When I grow I shall fight
For this land I shall die
Let her sun never set
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, ‘toria
Victoria, Victoria, Victoria, ‘toria
Land of hope and gloria
Land of my Victoria
Land of hope and gloria
Land of my Victoria
Victoria, ‘toria
—the Kinks
Queen Elizabeth is 200 years old? She doesn’t look a day older than 100!
I’ll bet she regretted 4 given number 3.
Great Kinks song.
The Kenyan:
1. Removed the Churchill bust from the WH.
2. Didn’t use the Resolute Desk.
3. Gifted the Queen an iPod loaded with his speeches.
4. Pushed Brexit over the top with his national lecture on the eve of the vote.
And yet most of the people in the UK love him.
Hard to figure Brits out.
