Evolution and Origins are inextricably linked. Fatuous attempts to firewall one from the other by those who embrace Evolution as a worldview is a conceit on par with separating “Choice” from “abortion.”
It’s no longer an issue of “understanding.” It has become an issue of confirmation bias.
As general knowledge, and specifically information science, has grown, it is becoming more and more obvious that those who accused “God of the Gaps,” are even more guilty of positing Darwin/Evolution in the “Gaps.” And Evolution as a worldview is losing more and more ground all the time.
Attempts to mask this by cynically questioning the “understanding” of critics is similarly intellectual vanity.
Evolution is not a theory. It’s science, it happens and it’s proven. Life changes and adapts. Given millions of years it changes a lot and adapts a lot. We see viruses mutate into different forms virtually in front of our eyes. Somehow the flu virus manages to create a new version of itself every year. That being said evolution does not account for how life began in the first place. That appears to be Gods work but when it happened no one knows other than it was a long long time ago. Possibly even in a galaxy far far away. If you don’t believe life changes and adapts then you are stuck with God created every single life form just as it is or was in the past over hundreds of millions of years. Dinosaurs were here for 180 million years or so and have been long gone for millions of years. Man has been here only about 300,000. House cats have been here less than that. I think it’s pretty obvious various life forms changed, adapted and mutated from others.
I don’t fear evolution theory. In fact, it plainly works. On the other hand, evolutionists shouldn’t fear Creation. First, it is perfectly reasonable to image that Created organisms would be equipped by the Creator to adjust to changing conditions in the environment. Second, there sure are a lot of missing links in evolution.
“I think its pretty obvious various life forms changed, adapted and mutated from others.”
Amazing! You just PROVED the Theory of Evolution!!! You should get to work on “climate change” next, e.g., “I think its pretty obvious the climate is changing and it’s caused by too much CO2 in the atmosphere”
Clearly, with your incredible level of knowledge and analytic capability, you’re on track to be one of the top scientists in the world and are very likely to end up with a Nobel Prize ...
Unfortunately, creationism cannot be studied from a scientific point of view, as creation starts with an absolute that has yet to be proven (God). Based on what science has offered society over the last few hundred years, I will stick with the logic and principles in scientific studies and keep seeing where it leads on those missing links.
“Evolutionary theory has never been an issue with me.”
Misuse and subsequent abuse of it is the problem.
It’d be like setting up a cult around Newton and gravity.
Except that wouldn’t happen because gravity is a simple theory about physical properties.
Evolution is an infinite number of theories, some which complement each other, some at odds with each other, some quite scientific, some quasi-scientific.
This amorphous nature makes it more a paradigm within science, with many specific theories relating to different disciplines, and also has allowed it to be usurped as a basis for social-political philosophies and even an alternate religion or orthodoxy.
This latter is what is presented as evolution mainly, and understood as evolution by the general populace.
“There are too many on both sides who believe science and religion cant coexist ...”
Yes. To me it seems a very recent phenomenon in western civilization.
You’re far too sensible for this discussion.
still waiting for an evolutionist to come up with all the missing links required to prove evolution.
But if evolutionists want to go with ‘survival of the fittest’ then why lament extinction of species that weren’t?
I love it when they say the earth is 13.2 billion years old. In other words, science like its 1849.
They know zilch and have to make up new stuff all the time.
But it was aliens lol, that started life on earth. Who started them.. other aliens. Just hysterical to hear.
“Origin is the beginning point for the very first bit of life. Evolution is how life changed and adapted over long periods of time. They are two entirely different things.”
A common misunderstanding.
This argument is an evolution of the élan vital or vitalism. It’s no different than positing a creation event.
One of the big problems is that evolution has been poorly taught to lay people. How many of you remember the story of the white and gray moths in London? When London got real smoggy and dirty, the white moths stood out from the environment and became easy prey. The gray moths were better camouflaged and pretty soon almost all the moths were gray.
This was touted as proof of evolution when I went to school. It is nothing of the sort. It is natural selection, but nothing evolved. The gray was already there. If the Vikings raided Ireland and kidnapped all the blondes and brunettes and left only the red-heads, red hair would dominate in Ireland.
Well, it isn’t the Catholic Church that has a problem with it ...
“Evolution is not a theory. Its science, it happens and its proven.”
You’re a bit mixed up in how science works.
Still, I’m curious. What “proved” evolution?
The old earth model is useful in debunking the anthropogenic climate change theory. The earth has had thousands of climate cycles over millions of years. The climate changers have to argue that what has been occurring regularly for millions of centuries is now (for the first time in the history of the universe) caused by Man and it is a crisis.
Its impossible for us to discuss anything meaningful when you cant grasp that creation and evolution are two different words that have different meanings.
Good grief you need to start with a dictionary. Natural selection is one of the mechanisms of evolution.
What nonsense in your hubris.
I see this as an evasion or withdrawal on your part. A cowardly egotistical one.
You clearly do not understand what I pointed out and know nothing of molecular evolutionary theory or scientific theory on a whole for that matter.
Lightweight.
Perhaps you got mixed up by my silly pun. Try this
Origin is the beginning point for the very first bit of life. Evolution is how life changed and adapted over long periods of time. They are two entirely different things.
A common misunderstanding.
This argument is a variation on the concept of the élan vital or vitalism. Its no different than positing a creation event.
Tell us how you define this “Origen” event?
