Exactly, the labor costs have been be artificially depressed for over a generation.. nearly 2...

GDP per capita under Reagan 4%, under Clinton 3%, under Bush 2% and under Obama 1%... The Globalists have been destroying our Nation from within for nearly 40 years.... Trump’s policies of putting NATION first, are working... and the market has to adjust to the new reality.

“Under Trump, I would expect a protracted recession to begin within 18 months. The damage would be felt far beyond the United States.” Former Clinton and Obama chief economist Larry Summers, June 2016.

“Trump would likely cause the stock market to crash and plunge the world into recession.” Simon Johnson, MIT economics professor, in The New York Times, November 2016.

“If Trump wins we should expect a big markdown in expected future earnings for a wide range of stocks — and a likely crash in the broader market (if Trump becomes president).” Eric Zitzewitz, former chief economist at the IMF, November 2016.

And now you know why the economy was SHIT under Obama, and not all that much better under Bush before him... these were the types of idiots they were taking advice from.

Oh, and if you want to know why Obama got another 4 years to continue wrecking the economy as a second term, in spite of having the WORST economic record in the post war era (with a GDP per capita of 1%), well look no further than the moron the GOPe put up in 2012.

“Trump’s domestic policies would lead to recession.” Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, March 2016.

The GDP per capita went from 4% under Reagan, to 3% under Clinton, to 2% under Bush, to 1% under Obama.... Largely because globalist morons and their policies were given credence and followed, rather than a strong national first approach that Trump has promised and engaged in.

I can see that.

If the money was equivalent, you could buy a ham?

(I was thinking this gave multiple people multiple options)

Granted, more than likely you’d be paying retail but I think most employers would have to do that, too.

Switzerland? Isn’t something like 20% of their workforce imported? I heard citizenship was hard to earn and involved approval of the local community.

I think these small businesses do need to pay more if they want workers to leave a current job. Obviously the higher the wages the better for the economy. Basic money 101.

I agree. I’d wager that (in these parts), $12-$15/hr for trained, qualified workers with decent hours would keep a lot of average HS graduates from choosing the massive debt of college instead of a job.

I’ve been an employer in the construction business in Minneapolis for many years. For 15 bucks an hour I couldn’t find someone with a pulse. I offered 20 bucks an hour plus overtime for unskilled labor and found nobody.

I don’t believe you. $20.00/hr is very good wage in central Va.

Companies have treated employees like garbage for 30 years. First took away pensions and other benefits and even cut healthcare. Then didn’t give raises either. These companies have been greedy for decades. Time to pay workers what they deserve.

We have had this conversation before. Minneapolis is different than central Virginia. We wear shoes here. Maybe that is the reason.

My son in law got a job working on the bridges in SW Pennsylvania, starting at 25 bucks an hour with benefits. I think the big plus in his column is that he does not do drugs,or drink, and has a valid drivers license.

You raise good points, but keep in mind that our aging population and social pathologies are the biggest factors in our declining per-capita GDP.

We simply cannot maintain a high level of GDP growth when we have so many people who are beyond their working years and/or unemployable for other reasons.

On the government projects I do I pay a minimum of 53.75 per hour for a common laborer. People in central Virginia could probably get heat and running water in their shacks with that kind of money.

Unbridled LEGAL immigration the reason for declining per-capita GDP.
