If Wayne doesn't want the NRA dragged thru the mud, he'll resign quietly.
With hundreds of emails a month, and fund-raising/survey calls at dinner and into the evening, I let me 6yr membership lapse, and joined GOA as a Lifetime Member.
If the get rid of LaPew and change some tactics, maybe I’ll rejoin.
Its sounding like ‘le Pierre has grown fond of the lifestyle he has become accustomed to.
Not a good career choice to go head to head with a Marine, let alone a decorated line officer.
Insiders say matters will come to a head by Monday, when the NRAs full 76-member board is set to meet.
...
That’s 70 more board members than they need.
Wayne has been there way too long.
I think he’s become a bit too comfortable.
Maybe his next gig can be with The United Way...
That’s what it sounds like to me too. I’ll wait and see for now though... more information is always good, and it’s never good to make a personnel decision without having the whole story...
I don’t know what the structure of an association is supposed to be, but the only other type of association that allows one person to run it for their entire life after taking over is a Home Owners Association...
I would trust Col.Oliver North over the other guy.
Serious fiscal questions.
Issue advocacy is very lucrative if you pick a good one and you control the board......
Daylight is the best disinfectant - put it out there and allow the membership to judge for themselves.
I let my NRA membership lapse and joined a group in my state, Georgia Gun Owners.
Tired of financing Wayne’s lifestyle, tired of the calls and junk mail pleading for me to help them defend gun rights while they support bump stock bans and red flag seizure laws. Our “ other “ gun group in Georgia Georgia Carry has been caught red-handed helping the NRA kill constitutional carry here in Georgia, so I passed on them, too.
My money’s always on Oli.
I don't know. Donald Trump has done just fine against THIS former Marine.
Lots of strong arguments for keeping all of your political contributions local.
> Tired of financing Waynes lifestyle... <
I’m with you on that. According to Wikipedia (yeah, I know) LaPierre made $5,051,249 in 2015 and $1,422,339 in 2016. The 2015 salary was higher because it included an employee funded deferred compensation plan.
I dunno. Maybe the guy is worth it. But making over a million dollars a year to run a nonprofit...that doesn’t sit right with me.

Get the popcorn.

Part of the problem is the fact that anyone taking a leadership position with the NRA is basically signing up to be a pariah for the rest of their lives, so the organization tends to be generous in terms of salary and pension. Asking someone to wear a "Kick Me" sign on their back in perpetuity is a tough sell for the board members when seeking new candidates.
I'm not defending mismanagement or unethical behavior, just pointing out that the NRA is constantly in the crucible. It shouldn't be, but logic and reason do not hold lease in Washington, D.C., nor in any media newsroom.
They both apparently enjoy coups too.
