They have been brought disruption to London for days while campaigning for more to be done to protect the environment from climate change.

But protesters from Extinction Rebellion appear to be less bothered about plastic waste after being spotted surrounded by bottles and coffee cups in central London.

Plastic carrier bags and disposable coffee cups from chain shops are dotted around their bags and blankets in Oxford Circus as well as separate demonstrations in Marble Arch and outside Jeremy Corbyn's house in Islington.

Single-use plastic has become a huge environmental concern with around 104million tonnes dumped in the natural world every year.

It mainly ends up in oceans, posing a serious threat to wildlife, while less than 20 per cent is believed to be recycled annually.

A friend of mine often works out of town and packs his own shampoo, etc.

he then brings those little bottles home and puts them in the local donation pantry for those in need

Haha, easier to top up containers. IF we like the quality. Oh rats, quality will then decline.

The idea of return/deposit food containers is an idea whose time has come.

Again.

Single-use plastic has become a huge environmental concern...

I would think they should call single-use plastic a good thing. Lots of it is buried and its carbon is sequestered just about forever. Another chunk of carbon that will not unite with some oxygen molecules to produce CO2, the killer of life and planets and solar systems. Don't look so glum. Rejoice! Then have a drink from your single-use cups and bottles!

I always pack my own stuff when I travel. I take the ones supplied by the hotels to put on my boat. Then when I have guests that forget stuff I just hand them one of the hotel supplies.

Why don’t they sit among the San Francisco poop piles? They’re not good for the environment.....oh wait, their favored political party is the reason there’s a mountain of poop piling up....never mind.

I hope the clothes they are wearing, the signs, the doona and the boat are all made of natural, degradable fibre. It isn't just the drink containers that are plastic, it's everything they wear, carry it in and all their modern technology that is petroleum based.

Instead of banning plastic coffee cups and water bottles, their time would be better spent trying to find a way to safely and profitably dispose of it all. Turn it back into re-usable oil, maybe.

I got a kick when the freaks tried to blockade the oil rig supplies stopping into port in Seattle a few years ago. In their plastic kayaks.
