Judge To Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel: Yes, The Governor Can Fire You

A judge dismissed Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel’s lawsuit Thursday challenging his suspension by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the wake of the Parkland school shooting.

DeSantis had accused Israel of failing to prevent the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida on Feb. 14, 2018 that left 17 people dead. The Republican governor issued an executive order removing Israel from duty in January.

Israel sued to overturn the removal, claiming DeSantis had overstepped his constitutional authority. Broward Circuit Court Judge David Haimes ruled the order was compliant with Florida’s Constitution, according to The Associated Press.

There are some really shocking tidbits of information here that support the theory many of us here have that this was a deliberate setup, fully known about and collaborated in by ex-Sheriff Israel, to stage a horrific massacre to undermine support for the 2d Amendment. FTA:

Critics and parents of the slain students pressured DeSantis to remove Israel after several revelations after the shooting, starting with the sheriff’s department changing its policy just before the shooting from “shall” to “may” confront shooters.” Eight deputy sheriffs pointed to the new policy to justify not confronting the gunman.

It was also learned that Scot Peterson, the deputy assigned to guard the school, had not entered the building during the shooting, but rather took cover in the parking lot. Additionally, the sheriff’s office had received two previous calls about the alleged shooter, Nikolas Cruz, and ignored both.

There is probably not a more justified and less political firing in the last 10 years. Naturally one of the Cowards of Broward would call it political.

Let's hope he's being investigated for his likely part in this frightful atrocity.

“After reviewing Executive Order 19-14, the Court holds that the Executive Order names specific grounds (neglect of duty and incompetence) that are set forth in the Florida Constitution as grounds for suspension,” Haimes writes in his order, “and further alleges facts that support and bear a reasonable relation to the stated grounds.”

What a dumbass. In Florida, the Governor can remove any elected official for a multitude of reasons.

Our sheriff was removed by Charlie Crist in 2009 for corruption.................

"Additionally, the sheriff’s office had received two previous calls about the alleged shooter, Nikolas Cruz, and ignored both."

Two? I've read there were over 20 calls to the Sherrif's office about this kid and that two incidents were reported to the FBI.

“I am pleased that the court recognizes my authority as governor to suspend a public official for reasons of neglect of duty and incompetence,” DeSantis said in a prepared statement. “Now, I will ask the Senate to move forward with the process of the formal removal of Scott Israel. Broward County deserves professional law enforcement leadership that will safeguard the best interests of the community and work diligently for the protection of life.”

More to the process...………….

Governor can suspend, senate remove?

changing its policy just before the shooting from “shall” to “may” confront shooters.”

I doubt this was done in isolation. This was a sheriff directive, how common in other counties and police forces?

Wonder what my local county is?

It could be a conspiracy, or it could be incompetence and cowardice. Which is more likely?

So if law enforcement “may” protect us then we “shall” have the right to defend ourselves.

Florida Constitution, Article IV, Section 7: SECTION 7. Suspensions; filling office during suspensions.— (a) By executive order stating the grounds and filed with the custodian of state records, the governor may suspend from office any state officer not subject to impeachment, any officer of the militia not in the active service of the United States, or any county officer, for malfeasance, misfeasance, neglect of duty, drunkenness, incompetence, permanent inability to perform official duties, or commission of a felony, and may fill the office by appointment for the period of suspension. The suspended officer may at any time before removal be reinstated by the governor. (b) The senate may, in proceedings prescribed by law, remove from office or reinstate the suspended official and for such purpose the senate may be convened in special session by its president or by a majority of its membership. (c) By order of the governor any elected municipal officer indicted for crime may be suspended from office until acquitted and the office filled by appointment for the period of suspension, not to extend beyond the term, unless these powers are vested elsewhere by law or the municipal charter.

Trayvon Martin was also a victim of the Broward County school policies. Another one dead due to Israel's incompetence, Obama and the Democrats no consequences for your actions ideas and the implementation of them in Broward County schools by Obama's hand picked superintendent from Chicago, Robert Runcie. He just got a reward for those failed policies.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. If this scum had any honor, he would have already have committed ritual suicide, along with that fat slob with the badge who cowered outside while the killing went on.
