Brussels said that it is increasingly likely that the UK will crash out of the EU without a deal, as it insisted the bloc was ready for a hard Brexit that would require everything from customs checks to quizzing British travellers at the border.
EU officials said that European companies were telling Brussels that they would prefer a no-deal outcome soon to prolonged uncertainty about whether there will be a managed exit.
They were telling us we want certainty, and if it has to happen so be it, one official said.
A no-deal Brexit would involve the immediate imposition of customs duties on UK goods entering the EU, as well as product checks.

The no-deal deal is what I’ve been expecting from the beginning. Remember, when this was tried in the North American Union (NAU - AKA the United States), well, a lot of folks died.
LOL. Like its a bad thing. That is the ideal outcome for Britain.
The gloBULLists Free Traitors have hyped Brexit up to ebola status!
Someone in the German business news brought up a piece from 10 days ago....that the German car industry is the one mostly affected by this no-deal situation. They were talking of the idea that German car plants would go to a month-long of a summer-shutdown or running just one-single shift for several months this summer, if no-deal is the outcome.
Overall, if no deal is the outcome, I’d predict a recession by late summer for most of the EU.
American car companies might even start thinking about doing a production run with the steering wheel on the right.
Reminds of the Won closing the government, so he made sure to "shut down" things to annoy those for the shut down.
Brexit is good for Britain. Remain is good for glowbullists.
This really complicates the situation in Ireland. The Republic of Ireland, south Ireland, will stay with the EU. With GB out of the EU northern Ireland gets a hard boarder with southern Ireland. This will cause problems with the IRA / Catholics. Maybe time for GB to let Ireland go. Who knows?
No deal is the way to go. Make a clean break and move on.
You don't decide on a profound thing like national sovereignty based on trivial things like German car production schedules.
Is this a bad thing?
The affected parties can work out new rules for trade, travel, and drivers' licenses one at a time, can they not?
Could they not fall back to the rules that were in place before Britain joined the EU?
Is the dreaded "No Deal Brexit" much ado about nothing? Why the hysteria about deals on so many fronts with so many issues when they can be worked out in an orderly manner in due time?

I also see this a ultimately a Irish sovereign/occupied issue.
Time to re-frame division to Irish vs. England......

The first "british" brand is #3 Vauxhall and that's owned by Opel, a Franco-German company. Then you have #11 Land Rover that is owned by an indian company, then #15 Mini that is owned by BMW
There aren't any "British car companies" of size at all.
Vauxhall are assembled in Luton from parts made in France, Italy etc.
Ditto for Rover and even more so for Mini (which uses the BMW platform). Japanese and Korean cars may become cheaper, yes -
There are lots of businesses and individuals who travel to and do business in the EU every day. Do they just shut down or stay home waiting for "due time" to pass?
It's exactly this economy-killing uncertainty that the article is talking about.
I understand Cronos...and you make a good point.
The fight for Irish independence should never have been and must never continue as a “holy war” Irish independence is about Irish independence.
Having England in your country Is like having your next-door neighbor live in your house and help you and your wife decide the best way for you to live. It’s simply would never work for you.... Has never worked and Will never work for the Irish.
Ireland is for the Irish. It’s time for Britain to leave.
The thing is that, just as in Poland, being Catholic and being Irish/Polish was the same thing because some (note: SOME) Protestants acted in favor of the occupying power.
in Ireland it was further complicated by the fact that many of the northern Irish are actually descendents of Scots (and further complicated by the fact that many Irish republicans have Scottish ancestry!! And further further complicated by the fact that the Scotti were originally an Irish tribe that invade Albia around the 5th century!!! I love how weird history gets!)
Yep. Increasingly, no deal Brexit is what the British people want. Its already the most popular outcome according to polling data.
