Detectives got to watch and enjoy live porn while working in an air conditioned, dark viewing room. This was supposedly done in order to rescue trafficked women, who were being held and worked as sex slaves. However, would in not have been possible to enter the business and interview the women to free the ones held involuntarily? If the women were held against their will, why did they wait 6 months to free them? Who monitored the detectives to make sure they were not deriving sexual pleasure while on the job viewing porn? Is this just a ruse for the morality police?

Police always watch and wait 6 months or years to act on any criminal activity. Watch and wait and watch and wait and watch and wait while more lives are destroyed.

I say this is why K is getting off because defense will argue the Fuz should have shut the place down after the 1st 48 hours of evidence and they did not.

The insanity of the modern state of civil rights: You can install cameras to watch the goings-on in private homes to gather evidence of prostitution, but you can’t bust “escort services” advertising in classified ads.

How do they get a search warrant for 8 months?

Anybody who has been paying attention for the last few decades already knows that the government can spy on you any where and any time they decide to do so.

It was a trivial thing to install secret cameras decades ago.

Simply because the women might have been afraid to testify.

If this was all done to free the women, why did they wait 8 months to free the women?

I think they are. To some extent anyway. Plus Brady is a Trump supporter.

So if you get a warrant to install the cameras to see if the workers are mistreated (trafficking) or that the business has prostitutes working there. Isn’t the video and therefore the arrest a violation of the John’s 4th Amendment rights?

The women could be removed to a safe location for a wellness check. This is done all the time.

If I was a billionaire, I would find a stone hearted PI and pay him a very healthy payday, with bonuses for good finds, to dig into the background of every cop involved, every DA involved, the Judge who approved the warrant to place the cams and the main news reporters that pushed the story.

You’ll find a ton of cheating on wives, pay for play sex, closet homos, tax cheats, dope use, etc.
Turn about is fair play.

That’s if I was a single billionaire in my 70s.

So, shouldn't all men's rooms have covert cameras installed, so that any sexual activity can be spotted and prosecuted? Also, women may be concealing drugs under their clothes. If this is suspected, is it ok to install covert cameras in order to prosecute this illegal activity? Where will it end?

IIRC, the National Enquirer got the damning pictures of John Edwards with a through-wall camera lens that wasn’t much larger than a sewing needle.

Don’t you know these detectives enjoyed getting paid to watch porn and earn retirement credit while “working” on the job. Maybe that is why the investigation took so long.

I think this was a revenue generation scheme. Back in the 80’s I remember a story of an east Oklahoma town operating a speed trap. One day they pick the wrong victim, A federal marshal.

“Sneak-and-peek warrants have been used since the 1970s. They were formalized as part of the USA Patriot Act, which “established a uniform nationwide standard for use of delayed-notice search warrants to ensure an even handed application of Constitutional safeguards for all Americans,” according to a 2004 Department of Justice report.”

The Patriot act, you know, the law they passed 6 weeks after 9/11 to protect us from massage parlors...Oh wait, that was for islamic terrorists. /s

Freeing women does not generate revenue. Florida law has fines and imprisonment for prostitution convictions. Up to $10,000 if the prostitute is under 18.

So if they find a place that has underage girls, they have a gold mine. Bust the johns, offer them a plea bargain: pay the fine and you walk. Easy money for the criminal justice system.

So should we presume these fine upstanding officers of the law did not get any pleasure at all watching these naked people engage in sexual activity?
