Trump Abandons ‘America First’ Reforms: ‘We Need’ More Immigration to Grow Business Profits

Ahead of the 2020 presidential election, President Trump is abandoning his prior “America First” legal immigration reforms to support increases of legal immigration levels in order to expand profits for businesses and corporations.

For the fourth time in about a month, Trump suggested increasing legal immigration levels. With Apple CEO Tim Cook sitting next to him at the White House on Wednesday, Trump said he not only wanted more legal immigration but that companies needed an expansion of new arrivals to grow their business.

“We’re going to have a lot of people coming into the country. We want a lot of people coming in. And we need it,” Trump said:

If foreign workers are that needed, require them to get 50% over prevailing wages, instead of (a lot) below prevailing wages.

Without ending the inflow of illegal aliens, it's kind of pointless to ask for increased legal immigration. Fix the illegal problem first, Mr. President, then we can move on to debating levels of legal immigration.

Need to drastically cut welfare before some Americans will get off their collective asses. There is a market for unskilled/low skilled labor, like it or not. Before the day laborers were standing around the Home Depot parking lot it wold be often difficult to recruit laborers. I have been there when porch sitters declined an opportunity to work because they were doing just fine on welfare. The problem on the other end of this is (low/unskilled) people thinking they can have a career and raise a large family on a minimum wage job. Then they demand more pay. The employer can’t afford the increase. The job goes away. More on welfare.

Cut out freebies past bare necessities, (and a smart phone isn’t one) and demand more from our indigenous population.

By the way, your ability to use logic, sucks.

If the same situation I suggested were true on the low end, illegals would have to get 50% more than what teenagers and adults would get at any standard minimum wage.

As it is, they get half or less, which encourages their use and dependency upon illegals in the labor market.

The President said clearly that we need immigrants based on a merit system. He said this in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019.

Bingo.

Meanwhile, perhaps the easiest way to reduce the number of undesired illegal entrants - while tending to assure only the entrance of industrious workers it is said we need - is to dramatically reduce or even eliminate our welfare system for illegal entrants. (In any event, the only way such a system makes sense is for Mexico to send us a check each month for the cost.)

Of course, the anti-American Left/Dems will by definition screech and howl at the moon at such a move. (Note here that not all anti-American politicians are leftists.)

H1-B workers, when offered below prevailing wages, guarantee reduction of prevailing wages for US citizens. Permanent residents send much money out of the country, back to home and out of our economy.

If they are so important, companies should find it a great deal to hire the outsiders at a premium.

When you desperately need a plumber at 3 AM, have you ever price-shopped for the lowest price to help you, or do you gladly pay a premium for the first one who says they will be right there, even with the extra emergency charge?

You know you are wrong and I am right.

No, cause none of it happened and you are all whining about a hypothetical situation that, one you are taking the word of the media is accurate and two may just be a postition to negotiate from.

So try harder

My case is made and completely rational.

You’ve provided no argument, and all here know this, lightweight.

Thanks for playing my stupid foil!
