Quinnipiac Poll: Almost two-thirds of voters think Trump committed crimes before taking office

Nearly two-thirds of registered voters think President Donald Trump committed crimes before assuming the presidency, according to a new poll taken in the days after former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen testified to Congress.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday, 64% of registered voters said Trump had committed crimes before entering office and nearly half of voters — 45% — think he committed crimes while serving as President.

Despite Trump’s massive popularity in the GOP, even a third of Republicans said Trump had engaged in criminal activity before his presidency. The poll showed that 89% of Democrats and 65% of independents thought Trump had committed crimes before taking office.

Republicans were the only demographic group without a majority who believed Trump broke the law before he was President.

Voters were more split on whether Trump had committed crimes during the presidency — 45% said they think he has and 43% said they think he has not engaged in criminal activity.

In bombshell testimony last week, Cohen alleged — among other things — that the President had directed him to pay hush money to kill negative stories about the then-presidential candidate, something most voters in the poll frowned upon.

According to the poll, 73% of registered voters said paying to hide a negative story about a presidential candidate without disclosing it is unethical, including a little more than half of Republicans.

However, a smaller share of voters said they believed that act was also illegal — 40% of registered voters said paying to kill negative stories, and not disclosing it, is both unethical and a crime. The poll showed 21% said it was unethical but not criminal, and 20% didn’t think it was unethical at all.

In other words, 2/3rd’s have been successfully brainwashed by the MSM.

You're right. I recently was forced by circumstances to watch a few minutes of MSNBC. It was astounding. Every story, every comment, was bashing Trump -- and this was when he was in Vietnam negotiating with Kim. It was sickening.

And I don't know how we fight against it.

Trump-Rich before he got into office. BAD.

Politicians who did not have a pot to pee before they got into office but who became rich after getting into office. GOOD.

Even better, those same politicians now sit in judgement of all of us.

I’ll bet Trump committed crimes. I doubt it is possible to do a large real estate deal in NYC without needing to bribe a union official or a city clerk somewhere.

And if he has good tax attorneys, he will have filed tax returns that explore the grey areas of tax law - and that a biased judge could easily call a “crime”. I used to do taxes for pay, and the rule was I didn’t need to guess how the IRS would rule in a case. I just needed to have a reason why they MIGHT rule in my favor. Anyone who files a business return will have some of those grey areas - or overpay their taxes.

“I’ll bet every voter committed some crime before Trump was elected.”

I don’t think a person can live in America without committing SOME crimes SOMEWHERE. And that is apart from the common ones like speeding, taxes, etc.

This right here gives us insight into how skewed this "poll" is - and how dumb people really are.

Fits the meme “The only way someone gets to be rich is by cheating and stealing from poor people”

They called me about 3 days ago. I went through the poll and answered most of the questions. One of the questions was "are you a gun owner?" I responded;"I believe in the right to keep and bear arms." 75% of the questions were about Trump and his taxes and impeachment.

If this poll is accurate, then the MSM is doing their job for the DNC.

Oh, I didn’t see a criminal statute mentioned in the article. Odd...

Were any of them Rape? Seems Clinton sent the precedent that PRE election crimes, no matter how heinous are not grounds for impeachment.

Must be... Quinnipiac has Trump approval at -17 while most other polls are in the single digits.

President Trump is the only thing/person who stands between that evil dim party, their lust for absolute power .. and we the people!
If they get him, next would be or guns, our own healtcare, and the rest is gestapo history!!!!!!!

Without our own guns, without any way to get healthcare for a family member or ourself, and are told to take an aspirin and die.... this is the future of what they are planning. when conscience is gone, they are worse than animals.

Hmm, yet no one was smart enough to uncover this?

Not the SEC
Not the FASB
Not his Auditing Firms
Not the weaponized IRS
Not the AICPA Peer Review Program
Not SIPC
Not the FDIC

None of these institutions attempted to advance any sort of issue that would have resulted in an indictment. Only now....

Whether you support the President or not, smart minded people need to take a breath and think for a second. Tax Evasion? Inflating assets? (although that term is VERY ambiguous)

It’s a shame people can lead the charge on things like this. If Trump broke the law, he should be held accountable. But there is zero evidence and no one screaming they were harmed. Yet the beat goes on and countless millions are wasted.

And all of those people who voted in this poll also committed a crime within the last week. This is what happens when too many laws are passed.

This is not true.. not true!!

But if it were... the dims and the media have committed the unforgivable sin/attack/treason on our country and the people. For the power to control... there is nothing off limits to them to do to gain their absolute control. That is where we are today... no limits, no laws, no elections shall stand in the way of them controlling us all.

The way they got to this place: no term limits and making it their lifelong profession where they are bowed to.
The heart of man is wicked... the Bible says so and we are witness to it being so.
No pushback for years from the other party or from the people who believed the biased media.
and politicians have an exagerated image of who they are and have learned to lie right to your face... and have no intentions of doing it.

If we investigated them to this level, I’ll bet that 95% of voters have committed some kind of crime.

Nearly two-thirds of registered voters think President Donald Trump committed crimes before assuming the presidency,

Well, that's enough justification right there for all of the House-initiated investigations into Trump's business dealings for the past decade.
