Remember when the media plastered these special elections all over the internet? Every one was considered a harbinger of doom for the GOP? The GOP just flipped their 4th legislative seat in a row tonight.

Funny how you don’t hear a word about it in the MSM, huh? Two years ago if a Democrat running for dog catcher in Sheboygan won it was front page news.

KY-SD-31 is a rural D-held R+32 (but very historically D) seat in coalfields at the eastern tip of the state, including Pikeville, Louisa, and West Liberty.

Attorney Phillip Wheeler (R), whose father lost a State House primary in 2016, will face off with realtor Darrell Pugh (D). The race seems almost impossible to handicap, because this area is both overwhelmingly Trumpy and overwhelmingly Dem in heritage, and Dems have still held on reasonably well downballot here.

A blowout win for either candidate or anything in between are realistic possibilities.

Interesting as it went for Trump 80% but is a seat that has been held by Dems for decades.

I knew we’d lose the midterms because they were flipping all the seats. Now it seems we are. Them winning the House may have helped Trump in terms of 2020.

Democrat Darrell Pugh, left, and Republican Phillip Wheeler are vying for an open state Senate seat in Eastern Kentucky.

PIKEVILLE Voters in five Eastern Kentucky counties will decide Tuesday who should replace former state Senate Minority Floor Leader Ray Jones in a special election marked by mudslinging. Both candidates describe themselves as pro-coal, pro-life and pro-gun, and have promised to stand up for public employees and teachers in the ongoing debate over state pensions.

Kentucky state Senate, not federal. Still counts as a win, tho.

Heard the race where the republican won by 28,000 votes in Connecticut is suddenly up by 8,000...magically 20000 votes have appeared ...They’re going to steal this one too and the RNc is nowhere in sight! Consider this flip a loss!! They know they can steal elections like taking candy from a child!!

Is this a State seat, or a U.S. seat?

We don't hear much about the outlier elections that reflect how fed up voters are. Our example is this state rep district in OH. It's a weirdly shaped district, aimed at collecting the small mostly white towns south and east of Cleveland. At last count, the district was 2% black and 3% Hispanic. It's a "give me" for whomever the Republican establishment chooses. Their choice lost to a black candidate who ran an intelligent, underfinanced, respectful campaign. The establishment candidate was backed by glossy campaign materials from PACs. (last thing Columbus needs is more bought and paid for pols, now even at that lowly level)

AOC is that kind of surprise. The establishment (both parties) keeps pretending they don't get the message, just keep fighting back harder to suppress all of us.
