In a rare public comment last year, Steele told Vanity Fair in a statement that "we all still have a duty" to "speak truth to power." What a trite phrase. Steele is an even bigger dunderhead than I imagined.

Democracy is what got Hugo Chavez elected and entrenched in Venezuela...the US is a representative republic and it has worked pretty well for +200 years...
