Whitaker out at Justice Department
The Hill ^ | 03/04/2019 | Morgan Chalfant

Former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker has left the Department of Justice.

A Justice Department spokesman told The Hill that Whitaker’s last day was Saturday but did not expand on the circumstances surrounding his departure or his plans after leaving. It is unclear where Whitaker might go, including whether he might seek another role in the Trump administration.

Whitaker served as the chief of staff for former attorney general Jeff Sessions until last November, when President Trump tapped him to lead the department temporarily following Sessions’s ouster. Sessions resigned at Trump’s request the day after the November midterm elections, after enduring months of criticism from the president over his decision to recuse himself from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.

Whitaker’s departure comes less than three weeks after Bill Barr was confirmed as Trump’s next attorney general. Barr was widely expected to bring new blood to top leadership roles in the department, raising questions about Whitaker’s tenure.

Is Barr ridding the DOJ of pro-MAGA supporters?

I don’t care if he’s 30 percent of what he was 10 years ago, put Rudy in.

He’ll still get 10 times more done.

Or put fatso in and use him.

He can be Trump’s Luca Brasi for a year and then let him go.

Trump keeps getting bad advice whispered to him in dark corners.

Wish there was more info about this. I hope it’s not because Barr is heading in a direction Whitaker disagrees with.

Any position would be a demotion. I’ll take a wait and see attitude.

Much more than expected. It was planned, it was announced, and it was promised. This is really a non story that some media twit is trying to use to throw stones at the Administration.

Mick Mulvaney while doing a great job is currently doing double duty as Chief of Staff and head of OMB. Whitaker was Session’s chief of staff. Could we see Whitaker brought on to be the next Chief of Staff. That’s not cabinet level so no Congressional approval, but it’s a super duper important job.

Whitaker? Absolutely!! I think Jeff Sessions is also one of the good guys. I just think he's not strong enough to handle the swamp and so caved. He should have never recused himself. Whitaker has not shown he's going to cave. So far, he has pushed back. I think he would be a good addition to the Trump team.

Yes. No way was this expected. Whitaker had agreed to a deputy job in some DOJ division. He's not being booted from a top job. The President is not in control of the DOJ.

Whitaker out at Justice Department

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s a shame. He did more in 90 days than Sleepy Jeff did in two years.
And apparently Big State Bob is on track to do as little as Sessions.
Hoo boy.
