Caroline Glick: Time to walk away from Afghanistan
Breitbart ^ | 2 March 2019 | Caroline Glick

The Associated Press

If nothing else comes of it, the latest round of Pakistani aggression against India served as yet another signal to the U.S. that the time has come to cut its losses and walk away from Afghanistan.

On February 14, a Pakistani terrorist from Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist organization, infiatrated the Indian side of the disputed Jammu and Kashmir province and murdered more than forty Indian paramilitary forces in a suicide bombing.

....

Regarding China, however, even as this concern informed U.S. decisionmakers, Pakistan expanded its strategic and political ties with China. In 2016, 63 percent of Pakistan’s foreign military assistance was Chinese. That year, arms exports to Pakistan constituted 35 percent of China’s total arms exports. So continued U.S. support for Pakistan didn’t make Islamabad avoid expanding their ties with China.

President Donald Trump signaled an end to this policy of turning a blind eye to Pakistani aggression last January. He tweeted, “The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies and deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan with little help. No more!”

I was 13 years old when the war began.

My opinion remains the same today as it did then.

Take off and Nuke the entire site from orbit.

It's the only way to be sure.

I agree. You cannot deal with the Devil. “negotiating” with those muslim bastards that attacked on 911 ( along with the Saudis) killing 3000 Americans is absurd and futile, It is like negotiating with that fat faced communist bastard in NKorea. It is doomed to fail. Just do what you need to do!! Get the hell out of Afghanistan and bring those troops to our southern border ( where nothing is happening, BTW), We have 2500 illegal aliens getting into this country EVERY DAY diluting our culture and our sovereignty and stealing our money! DO SOMETHING!!Quit yakking about it!!

Funny thing is maybe 90% of the people in the country have only a vague sense of Afghanistan as a whole country.

The focus by far is on their particular tribe.

Let’s see. So far in Afghanistan alone three thousand young Americans killed. many thousands more physically and psychologically maimed, $3 trillion squandered and somehow, someway the locals remain uneducated, backward and cling tenaciously to their guns and religion. Gee didn’t Congressman Ron Paul and others in 2002 predict that any attempt to change the minds and hearts of people living with the practices, values and institutions of the 10th century would not and could not be changed by force of arms? They were historically correct and prescient. Once bin Laden left Afghanistan or was killed, the US no longer had business their worth the cost. The American people are not more secure for the sacrifices they have been forced to make. Just say no to the heartless globalists and withdraw all American troops from Afghanistan. Its is and always has been up to the locals to work out their own social and political consensus.

Afghanistan bankrupted the Soviets. It will do the same to us.

In a sense 9/11 was a tremendous success in the long run and our handling of it an epic failure. The two Muslitards in Congworthless and growing Islamic colonizing would be unthinkable right after 9/11. Islamic Europe is another.

The only way to really pacify Afghanistan and make it into a stable, normal society is to also stabilize and fix Pakistan, which is the source of instability in the region. It's nothing we can or should attempt - Pakistan is a mess, but it's India's mess to deal with after the British created it and ran off.

We've spent enough lives and enough money there, and the Pakistanis have been waiting us out - they knew we'd eventually go away and they'd be free to turn Afghanistan into their personal Islamic playground again.

The Constitution of Afghanistan is explicitly Islamic. we should have never defended that. Islam is evil and should be opposed everywhere it still exists.

We need to get something for all our troubles - keep Bagram Airbase and a 40-mile no-go zone around it.
Will drive the Russians and Red Chinese nuts. Like having a Diego Garcia in central Asia.

It should be noted that the inherent pathology of leftists and liberals makes them very susceptible to the Stockholm syndrome. It is no surprise to many that the Democratic Party has avidly embraced Islam and rails against anyone who criticizes it or acknowledges reality.

Seven years after 911 we elected a muslitard (as you put it) to the highest office in the land, and he may have succeeded in destroying this country. The jury is still out on that one.

in 2002 we (the USA) should have PAID the Russians to go in there and clean out. No cameras, no media, no questions. Payment in cash when the job is completed.

The reality is that Afghanistan is a 7th-century hellhole, that will never be brought into modernity. There is no point in trying. Better to just fence it off and let these savages destroy themselves.
