Is decadence a sign of upcoming collapse?
When the legislature passes a bill that nobody has read, Obamacare, that is a decadent society.
Just look at the eligible voter turnout for the last 100 years. The people who choose not to vote have dwarfed any single political party’s turnout in presidential elections for 100+ years. For state and local elections the people who choose not to vote generally outnumber all political party turnout combined. The truly horrific thing about it is that it would probably be much worse if all those people had been voting.
I don’t know if the kind of things that are happening now are a sign of impending doom or not. They are things that have never happened before. Could be a huge disruption right around the corner. But I guess I don’t see a reason we can’t just keep gently sliding down the cultural slope either.
