Roger Stone cannot speak publicly about case, judge rules

Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson on Thursday dramatically restricted Roger Stone's ability to speak publicly about his case after he published an Instagram post with what appeared to be the crosshairs of a gun drawn behind her head.

From this moment on, Stone may not speak publicly about the investigation or the case or any participants in the investigation or the case.

"Period," Jackson adds.

Jackson said Stone could issue no statements on the radio, no press releases, no blogs, no media interviews, no Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat posts and no statements can be made on his behalf by spokespersons, family members or even "many volunteers," Jackson said.

"This is not baseball," she added. "There will not be a third chance."

I'm having a hard time understanding how this gag order can possibly be constitutional...

I think we all know the answer as to whether a leftist would obey a gag order.

I heard a news report during Rush today, lying that Stone posted a picture of the judge in crosshairs. He did no such thing in fact it’s absurd based on the photo. A wall behind her is loaded with unrelated words and symbols.

And yet Mueller and his gang of democrat operatives can continue to leak daily half-truths and exaggerations to their friends in the media...

I guess the government fears people will know the truth. I firmly believe in transparency. Our government is hiding way to much from us, obviously to save their own skin.

“the crosshairs of a gun”

I’ve never seen a gun with hair, much less crossed. Must be a new thing.

no statements can be made on his behalf by spokespersons, family members or even “many volunteers,” Jackson said.

Nothing less than a Nazi show trial where the defendant is not allowed to speak in his own defense. All politically motivated.

Judge Amy Torquemada has spoken!

Weissmann sent REAL machine guns to Stone’s house but the guy who gets his mouth taped for an alleged threat is...the defendant.

A true defender of Equal Justice, right Amy?

I always thought you had the right to remain silent if you are accused of a crime. I didn’t think is could be mandatory.

I read this somewhere!

He's the defendant in the case. He should be able to say whatever he wants to say about his own case.

I'd like to see Stone defy this gag order, get sanctioned by the Court, and appeal it all the way up to the Supreme Court if necessary, to get a ruling that a gag order on a defendant is unconstitutional, unless it is in regards to National Security classified information.

It really isn’t a good idea if you’re a defendant to go making multiple public statements. At trial, it can be used against you in cross-examination.

You mean he can’t go on GMA with Robin Roberts, while she stares woefully into his eyes, and softy whispers sympathetic questions? That doesn’t seem fair. But, then again, Stone doesn’t hold two special cards.

This could end up being the wisest thing. Stone might want to drama-queen (king?) about the absurd situation he was put into, but if he can quietly win the case in court, the judge might have done him a favor. THEN he can rant as much as he chooses about what a kangaroo situation he (and the judge) had been put into. But there is a time for everything.
