I’m quite sure that the young American socialists have exactly that vision in mind and would read this as a description of their utopia. They would be totally perplexed that average citizens do not share their dream.
We should set up a socialist compound and send folks there that want this type of life. Make them stay for a few years even if they cry for mommy or daddy to bring them home.
Most are so ignorant that they want to be gods but don’t have the brains to design their supposed dream.
Having been in Berlin, just seeing the communist side and the free side, the east ‘looks’ fresh and clean and good life, but the under current feeling even today is dark and evil, just a public ‘face’ to make it look good when it is far from anything good.

I was backpacking thru Europe in ‘81. Out of money and time, I eventually took a bus direct from Athens to London (Magic Bus?). The bus went thru Albania. On strict instructions from the bus driver, the passengers were told “do not talk to or stare at the (well armed) Albanian border guards” that boarded the bus. “Hand them your passport while staring ahead.” It was night, so I have no idea how many cars were on the road. Kind of a somber experience. We were all glad to exit the other side of the country.
I remember just for grins, listening to Radio Tirana on the shortwave back in the day.

Also, socialism works for those in charge because they have everything, good food, clothes, leisure time implements, everything they could want. Rest assured there has never been a dictator who suffered the same as his/her citizens.
