I remember when Sacramento had two newspapers: The Sacramento Union which was conservative and the Sacramento Bee which was liberal. McClatchy HQ is in Sacramento. The Sac Bee devoured the Union. What goes around comes around.

Same in Dallas: We had The Morning News, which was conservative and the Times Herald which was more liberal.

I think millennials would freak when we tell them about the days when there were two newspapers in a market.

I remember that too! My parents finally stopped taking the Bee about three years ago because it cost too much for too little. They get their little local hometown paper, which has shrunk from six days a week to two days a week.
