What do y’all mean “alternative to Trump”?
As in who else should I support in 2020?
I’ll support Trump, of course. But that’s not the point I’m making. The obvious point here today is that Donald J. Trump is doing serious damage to his administration. And his base is pissed off.
If Trump folds on the wall, I think he’ll have to give up re-election. I don’t think Pence is ready and able to run and win. Guess we’d get a scramble of wanna bes. If he folds and tries to still run for re-election, I bet he’ll face one or more serious Republican challengers.
Of course the base won’t be happy if he caves. I won’t be happy. But what do you think will happen to his presidency if there is a terrorist event on an airline and everyone pins it on inadequate TSA coverage? Or what if there is another kind of disaster everyone will connect to the shutdown? My guess is it’s this kind of stuff his advisors and people in Congress are talking to him about.
