He didn’t give up the DACA stuff. He offered it, KNOWING they would refuse. (and if they accepted it then he gets the wall. Either way he wins. Now DACA is off the table as the democrats didn’t want it.

The democrats threw DACA under the bus. And I expect that President Trump will use that to separate the DACA issue from the border security issue entirely.

I suppose time will tell, but this does not seem like great strategic move. The Left is as emboldened as ever and the Right is at least partially demoralized. How are independents affected? I don’t know that they are moved much either way, thus it seems like a slight net loss. If this leads to the wall construction beginning within the year, then I’ll eat my words. It's not like Trump to have gone against Pelosi without another move to counter her refusal. I suspect McConnell may have backed down on him doing it in the Senate Chamber. I know the floor of the Senate is too small, but the gallery appears to go all around and if visitors were not included and the press was limited to pool cameras or C-Span it should take the hundreds more Reps from the House needed. I think it went beyond that. He needed unanimous consent....according to Senate Rules. The problem is he needs to change the rules if he want to get anything done, outside of judge appointments, it seems.

Actually I’m sure the VP or President Pro Tem would be the one to invite, but probably a majority could overrule them. With a GOP majority that’s not an issue of course, Billy.

Pelosi suggested he do a written address so obviously he can’t “save face” by doing that.

Oval office is no good, he just spoke from the Oval, he’s better with an audience. And that’s what this hoebag wanted to deny him. Some say she’s also worried about her far left heckling the President and embarrassing themselves.

He’s backed down and will wait and do it in the House. I think that’s a mistake, it comes off as a win for the c-word. One problem though on such short notice, decent venues are probably all booked.

The Senate is small but I think that could have worked. You don’t need so many “guests” and the bitch wouldn’t be there sitting behind him (I don’t know if I can look at that, I wish OAN or someone would be willing/able to edit her out of the broadcast).

Since Pelosi’s prextext was “security” my first preference would have been for Trump to show up at the House chamber with the army.
