This is a real New Yorker. Not the pansy ass, limp wristed latte sipping Upper East Side Leftist. Donald Trump is the penultimate East Coast conservative and American. I get pissed off sometimes because a number of Freepers think the entire Northeast is made up of liberals. It’s more conservative then you think. We’re just not flashy about it. Out here we don’t get mad- we get even. What Trump has done is the classic New York ‘’You wanna play f**k around, we’ll play f**k around!’’.

Trump was at one time castigated in the press for asking someone “What are you?” That is when I knew he was a real New Yorker.

Haven’t heard that term in years. In NYC and boroughs and Southern New England, it was a common question asked since the area was a melange of Italians, Irish, Polish, French, Easter Europeans, Brits, Spanish, Puertro Ricans... during the forties fifties and sixties.

It meant “What’s your heritage?” Gave an idea of how you thought, who you knew, and an ability to find common ground , or step back.

Culturally ignorant mainstream media turned this into a pig’s breakfast and considered it politically incorrect.

It was normative in his time, and in my time there, and I imagine that different groups now there ask the same question. If they can get away with it.
