WASHINGTON — The White House is describing comments by Republican Rep. Steve King about white supremacy as “abhorrent.”
Presidential press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is praising the move by House Republicans to strip the nine-term Iowa lawmaker of his committee assignments.

Steve King is one of the most honest, honorable, and decent persons in Congress. I have worked with him personally on immigration issues, including sponsoring him on CPAC panels I have held. He is far from being a moron. He is intelligent and fearless. The Dems have been trying to get rid of him for years, including this last cycle spending huge amounts of money to defeat him.
King has called out the GOP House leadership on a number of occasions, including the failure to kill Obamacare. He is true to conservative principles.
Since when is being interviewed by the NYT a sign of being a moron? There is a long list of Reps from Trump on down who have done so. Have you read the context of the remarks or King's explanation of what happened? The Establishment would love to get rid of Steve King. He has been a burr under their saddle for a long time. He cuts thru the BS and exposes their hypocrisy. The Dems defend one another regardless whether it was/is Robert Byrd, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, etc.

You’re not going to get one. You’ll get a ticket punching careerist fully supportive of the Chamber of Commerce agenda. That would be open borders, amnesty, unfair trade, subservience to the Chicoms, etc.
But you will not get a normal, intelligent conservative in that post if King steps down. King isn't a dummy, and I fully believe him when he says he is being taken out of context (it was the NYT, after all). The GOPe losership has been trying to muffle and remove King for awhile, so I don't know why you would expect a conservative to replace him.

What King said is open to debate.
The fact that King is too stupid to be where he is, is not.
I hope that he can weather the storm, but I am doubtful that he can.
So it is King's fault that the NYT distorted his remarks and painted him as a racist, bigot?
Who else do you have no sympathy for? Don Jr. for agreeing to a meeting with a Russian lawyer? President Trump for his inappropriate locker run language? King is the victim. He is being unfairly demonized.
But why is he sitting down with the New York Times and running his mouth for an hour?
King will probably be replaced by a Dem if there is a special election.
Yes, it’s his fault. It’s not like he made a speech to the Rotary Club and they then spun it. He voluntarily sat down and ran his mouth with them for a solid hour. What did he think he was going to accomplish by doing that?
During the “Obamacare” debate, Rep. King stayed in Washington one weekend and missed his daughter’s wedding in IA. Few other members would have ever done that because of dedication to proper health care policy.

The fragging of King is another example as to why conservative principles have not been advanced since Reagan. This is pure Alinsky hit job on King and it’s sad to see many hobbyist conservatives buy the GOPe/Dem gaslighting.
The interview was not a good idea. The left did what you would expect them to do yet that doesn’t mean the Republicans should have jumped on the burn the witch bandwagon along with the reds.
It has nothing to do with what King said to the NYT.
It's King's openly public endorsement of Faith Goldy for Toronto mayor that was the final straw for the GOP. After this, the House GOP Campaign Committee pulled all support for King's re-election. He was supposed to lose the race. The GOP had already written off the seat.
He didn't lose the race and the comments he made to the NYT are pretty much "F*** You! I won! Thanks for nothing!" to the Republican House.
Those other examples are completely different. Don Jr. did not invite the New York Times to his meeting with the Russian lawyer. POTUS did not think anyone was listening when he was talking to Billy Bush. This idiot purposely and voluntarily sat down with a New York Times reporter and ran is mouth for an hour. Whatever negative consequences that come to him after doing that are entirely his own fault.
POTUS has given interviews to the NY Times. Many times. Including an interview with hateful Maggie Habermann. Should we hound him out of office, too?
I can attest from personal knowledge interacting with him that he is highly intelligent and informed. In the House, he is the go to guy on immigration issues. He has initiated numerous bills on such subjects as eliminating birthright citizenship, mandating e-verify, and enacting stricter penalties on employers who hire illegals.
When I googled King the first thing that came up was a long election season “King is racist” hit piece on him by The Guardian. This has been in the works a long time. Anything he said remotely controversial was going to get this response from the GOPe.
Force King to resign and the Democrat would probably win the special election. Is that what the White House wants? All four congressional seats held by Democrats? Heading into an election year?
A Democrat will not win that seat.
