The average high in summer there (McMurdo Station) is 31 degrees. Mean summer temp is 27....there can't be a whole lotta ice melting there.

What the Amazon Compost knows,but refuses to mention,is that NASA recently announced the discovery of several (can't recall how many) active volcanoes *under* the Antarctic ice shelf.It doesn't take a rocket scientist (or a climate “scientist”) to understand that these eruptions might play a role in the melting of ice.
