Great idea, let’s make sure that no foreign leader ever feels comfortable having a private discussion with an American president again.

Well, he could have but he didn’t. Whatever happened to the FISA docs that he promised to “immediately declassify”? That was his big opportunity to turn the tables on the party and people who tried to take him down and subvert our elections and his presidency. Yet nothing.

If I remember correctly, one of Trump’s first calls to the leader of another country was leaked. Trump didn’t know who his friends and enemies were .... I would have done what he did to make sure the conversation with Putin (or any other private face-to-face meeting with anyone) didn’t leak. Claim Executive Privilege if necessary - Obama did it to hide the shenanigans & outright wrong doing (Holder/Fast & Furious) of his administration .... Trump should be able to do it to preserve his ability to speak with foreign leaders in confidence.
