U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton has warned the Syrian government it should not see the impending U.S. military withdrawal from the country as an invitation to use chemical weapons.
U.S. President Donald Trump said in December that U.S. troops had succeeded in their mission to defeat Islamic State militants and were no longer needed in the country.
The announcement, which took officials in Washington and allies abroad by surprise, contributed to Jim Mattis’ decision to resign as U.S. defense secretary and prompted concern that Islamic State could stage a comeback.

Bolton certainly does seem to like wars.

He does, one thing I agree with the leftists about is not liking him.
I didn’t like it when Trump chose Bolton, just another neo-con artist warmonger. I’m sure that within the next day or so we’ll see big headlines about Asad launching a poison gas attack. It always happens that way, the neo-con artists help stage another fake gas attack to keep us forever bogged down in all the senseless Middle East wars.
If he uses it wipe him out. We don’t have to be there.
Bolton is relentlessly and unambiguously America first in his thinking, with a realistic and educated appreciation of how force is threatened and applied in foreign affairs. Calling Bolton a warmonger is as wrong-minded as calling a cop a wannabe killer because he carries a gun and knows how to shoot.
Headline may as well be “Bolton announces plan for another false-flag chemical warfare attack to be blamed on Assad.”
Calling Bolton a warmonger simply means the person knows something about Bolton.

Oh, I see: Bolton is a warmonger because you say he is a warmonger.
And because 100% of his presence in public life prior to his current position involved, in some way, advocating for optional military adventurism.
I’m rather astonished you could be making an argument otherwise with a straight face. It’s not like pretty much everyone here doesn’t already know who he is, so who do you think you’re fooling?
National security experts are supposed to be expert in the use of military force. Making the case for a military intervention does not make one an advocate of military adventurism. Indeed, since Bolton is on board with Trump’s withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and Syria, he is decidedly in favor of lessening marginal active military commitments. Warning Syria against the use of chemical weapons is a well-chosen reiteration of long-standing US and NATO policies. Syria and Assad deserve no slack or sympathy.
Rooters is the only safe way Bolton can communicate with McCain's US armed and funded Syrian "Democratic" "Rebels".
It's not like he can phone them or email them with WikiLeaks hangin' around.
How predictable.
Get our soldiers out of Syria! Then nuke Damascus and Tehran.
Seems that talking loud so you don’t have to wield the big stick is an attempt to stay out of a war - else a LOT of chemical weapons might be used in a lot of places around the world.
