The same type of future doom has been used for political purposes for as long as I can remember. In the 1970s we were all going to be starving and freezing by now due to the upcoming ice age, and running out of oil and food. The "scientists" who predicted global cooling were wrong it seems.
Note that except for a few places the entire emphasis is on political actions, not innovation, technology, etc. as the solution to the supposed future problem.
What they are trying to tell us is, “we’re crazy” if we don’t believe in their GW folly.
The nutcase who started all this was algore, after his sour grapes tantrum about losing to Bush. He went through several iterations of who he was, until someone handed him the “global warming” pacifier.
Taxpayer funded mind frying.
In reality, his analogy is more like deciding that you should raise taxes for everyone in town since at some point in the future there might be a dangerous intersection, based on a model of accident fatalities that has been wrong in its predictions for the last 15 years.
But the taxes are only paid by people in one part of the town, while the majority of the cars are owned and driven by people in the other side of the town.
Because I have a working brain. Having CO2 go up from .0022% .0044% of the atmosphere can only put a bunch in the panties of an idiot.
Basically it is like telling us that just one extra corn flake in a huge Costco cereal box is going to kill us.

The same thing can be said about government. We all know governments killed 100 million people last century, yet we still give them trillions.
I live in the Pacific NW. Very low rain and snow so far this year, which means more and worse forest fires next summer. These are no laughing matter. Though I am about 150 miles from any fire over the last ten years, I’ve had ghastly smoke to deal with, requiring outlay of many dollars for smoke filters in order to keep breathing. If you value your lungs and your health, you need to take these overly warm, dry winters very seriously.
Perhaps it will start snowing tomorrow and not stop until May 1. I certainly hope so. NW Canada’s forests burned like crazy over the last few summers, millions of acres of trees and animals going up in smoke. Is that funny?
Yup. That was completely obvious to anyone paying attention. The Deep State felt so bad for poor Al they gave him awards he didn’t earn and made him the highly-paid “spokesman” for this international fraud which means trillions for them if they can get the rubes to buy it.

It certainly isn’t funny if you think that has anything to do with GlobalClimateWarmingChange.
Was I laughing? I believe that “climate change” can very well have natural as well as human-induced causes. This is not even considered by the “warmists”. Based on solar activity correlated with sunspots we might well be entering a significant cooling period.
Encourage responsible logging to thin those forests and dispose of dead trees and undergrowth that feed the fires. It’s appeasing the radical eco-nuts from the 70s to today that has created the situation we in the West have been dealing with.
