In the wake of the deaths of two migrant children, outgoing White House chief of staff John Kelly blamed former Attorney General Jeff Sessions for the policy that separated children from their parents at the border.
“What happened was Jeff Sessions, he was the one that instituted the zero-tolerance process on the border that resulted in both people being detained and the family separation,” Kelly told the Los Angeles Times in an interview published Sunday. “He surprised us.”
Sessions, who President Trump fired after the midterm elections in November, announced the zero-tolerance policy in May, saying it would act as a deterrent to immigrant families because children would be separated from their families.
“If you cross the border unlawfully, then we will prosecute you. It’s that simple,” Sessions said at a press conference at the border.
Kelly, who is leaving the White House on Wednesday, said the announcement caught the Department of Homeland Security unprepared and left DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen holding the ball.
He wouldn’t directly answer a question about whether Trump manufactured a migrant invasion at the border before November’s elections but did say, “We do have an immigration problem.”

The hapless jagoff Sessions is responsible for just about everything that’s wrong.
Of all people who have left the Trump Admin., I least expected Gen. Kelly to start talking like this. What he’s saying is rather mild, but can easily be spun into something equally insults or declarations of doubt.
I know he has plenty reasons to complain.
I just expected greater discretion.

We had a helluva costly time doing it in Europe and maybe wouldn’t have won without the Russian pressure on the Eastern Front.
Sounds like Kelly needed to be fired.
Damn that Senator Sessions for sneaking into the justice department and instituting an Obama era policy..

Yes, and the Russians might not have won if Japan hadn’t bombed Pearl Harbor. No longer concerned about Japanese aggression, Stalin moved additional troops to the Western front to stop the Wehrmacht.

Trump was warned about most of these BAD choices especially Rosenstein.
Kelly is on board with the Bush Plan for North Mexico.,
He does not think we should detain illegal aliens at all.
But we should “Trust Sessions,” because he’s the one pulling all the strings, even in his absence from office.
On his way out, Kelly said his tenure as chief of staff could be evaluated not by what Trump did during that time, but rather what the president had not done.
Howabout putting the blame where it belongs; on the illegals who are dumb enough to bring children on their crime spree into a foreign country.
understand and follow all Tax laws,
avoid law breaking,
always have a valid driver license, current auto insurance and avoid drunk driving,
pay alimony,
avoid leaving their kid in a hot car, at a public park or alone at home after school,
pay all their bills,
pay all their hospital visits,
not trespass onto government property, protected wetlands, and their neighbors' land,
not trespass into other countries without a passport,
not engage in bank or other legal transaction without a valid ID;
but illegal aliens are all good with not conforming with any of the above,
and also, they're 100% "victims" of American oppression, never than assumed stupid or culpable, unlike brilliant and/or totally culpable Americans.....
I thought those kids were already sick BEFORE they illegally crossed our southern border.
The president gets blamed for everything and then some.
