UN Human Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet criticises the Danish governments plan to place criminal migrants on a deserted island. According to her, it is not good to stigmatise migrants in this way.
About a week ago Denmarks Finance Minister Kristian Jensen announced that criminal foreigners in the future will be placed on an uninhabited island in anticipation of expulsion.
After the island has been cleared of swine fever. The migrants will be allowed to leave the island during the day but must stay there at night. The decision was taken in conjunction with budget negotiations with the Danish Peoples party.
Hooray!, wrote the partys Søren Espersen on Twitter after the decision. However, the plan is now being criticised by UN Human Rights Director Michelle Bachelet, who says she is seriously concerned.
We have seen the negative effect of such isolation before and should not copy these rules. To deprive them of their freedom, isolate them and stigmatise them only increases their vulnerability, she told reporters in Geneva, according to Reuters.
Inger Støjberg, Denmarks Minister for Integration, does not agree. They are unwanted in Denmark and they should feel it, she wrote on social media, according to the news agency.
Regarding the UN chiefs statement, Inger Støjberg says that it is strange that someone can sit in New York and criticise an exit centre that has not even been built and whose conduct will follow all the conventions signed by Denmark.

The word will get out that criminals immigrants are not tolerated.

Opps, Got the name wrong. The photo was of Inger Støjberg, Denmarks Minister for Integration.
Still a very nice smile.
Yep, somewhat like Sheriff Joe in AZ. Pink underwear and living in tents tend to get the message across.
Deserted Island? Australia had that.
Is this really necessary?
Smile. fitting treatment?
This is the goofiest idea I’ve ever heard. Just send them home now.
Yes, it is. Human beings are not susceptible, but swine fever is very bad news for pigs (and their owners). Best to prevent spreading it around if possible.
