Evers not optimistic Wisconsin Gov. Walker will veto bills
Associated Press ^ | December 9, 2018

Wisconsin’s Democratic Gov.-elect Tony Evers said Sunday he’s not optimistic that outgoing governor Scott Walker will veto bills approved by the Republican-dominated Legislature that would limit the new governor’s power.

Speaking on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Evers said he talked by telephone with Walker recently and appealed to him to veto the legislation, but that Walker was noncommittal.

Evers, who will be sworn in Jan. 7 after narrowly defeating the two-term Republican last month, said Wisconsin voters did not elect him to fight over administrative powers with the GOP legislative majority. He said the lame-duck legislation approved by lawmakers after an all-night session last week “gets us off to a bad start. And I think that’s a mistake.”

“But we’ll continue working to get the people of Wisconsin to convince Scott Walker to think about his legacy and make sure that he vetoes this language,” Evers said. […]

If Walker signs the bills, lawmakers can decide when the state can withdraw from lawsuits, and Evers would have to request permission to adjust programs that are run jointly with the federal governor, such as Medicaid. The GOP measures also would empower legislators, not new Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul, to decide whether to withdraw Wisconsin from a lawsuit challenging the Affordable Care act. The bills also could make it harder for Evers to renegotiate a $3 billion subsidy spearheaded by Walker for a Foxconn Technology Group manufacturing facility in southeastern Wisconsin. …

I can’t feel sorry for a party that abused the legislative process to shove Obamacare down every American’s throat is now mad that the GOP is finally getting tough. We learned it by watching you.

This from the party whose senators fled the state like spoiled babies to prevent government from voting on bills.

"This from the party whose senators fled the state like spoiled babies to prevent government from voting on bills."

Thanks for reminding me of that. I'd completely forgotten.

I saw one of the cowards hiding in City Hall in Chicago like a felon. They deliberately drove out of state so the State Police couldn’t follow them and force them to go to work.

I think Governor Walker would be useful at the Department of Labor. Although there shouldn’t even BE a Department of Labor.

All Walker has to do is ask himself, what would Evers do if the situation was reversed? He then will know what to do.

Nothing could be more GOP than Walker vetoing the bill out of a misguided sense of “fair play,” followed by the communists cramming a $h!t sandwich down the Pubes’ throats for the rest of time.

That breaks the Liberal Media rule requiring Republicans to be nice and morally pure while Democrats may do anything to win. [/sarc]

Especially since there is a lot of suspicion that the demoncrats stole the election via fraudulent cotes in Milwaukee and Madison.

Walker and the WI GOP know from bitter experience how the Ds operate. I pray we get a handle onthe D county vote manipulation/absentees and this sort of theft never happens again.

Pure unadulterated crap. These nefarious RATS play meek when it suits them, demons when in power. They really take us for fools. The same playbook never changes.

They pulled the same Mitt in Michigan.

They've fixed the Vote Fraud Machines in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania that lost them the last election.

The next election will have to be decided from the cartridge box rather than the ballot box...

Yep! Then I’d say, Tony, I’m Governor; you’re not. Now, get over it or decline the office.

Gee Tony, I bet you don’t even know that to become law, Gov. Walker does not have to sign them ... if they are not signed by 12/26 then on 12/27 they are law. And, by the way, you are an Executive, not a dictator ...
