The instructor in this incident is a senior lecturer. The UTSA biology department is huge--64 faculty, of which fewer than 30 are non-Hispanic white males. Lots of Hispanic and Asian faculty.

Not surprising that the administration will back a black student over a white faculty member, but probably they would do the same if it had been a white student.
