Gun-rights supporters sue to block I-1639
The Spokesman Review ^ | 23 NOVEMBER 2018 | Jim Camden

A Spokane gun dealer and four Washington residents who soon will be too young to buy semi-automatic rifles are among those filing a federal challenge to the state’s recently passed gun control measure.

Robin Ball, owner of the Sharp Shooting Indoor Range & Gun Shop, is among those joining with the National Rifle Association and the Second Amendment Foundation in a lawsuit that contends Initiative 1639 violates the U.S. Constitution and portions of federal law.

Although the results of the Nov. 6 election won’t be certified until Dec. 6, I-1639 is passing with nearly 60 percent of the vote and there aren’t enough uncounted ballots remaining to erase its lead of about 500,000 votes. The initiative restricts the sale of semiautomatic rifles to Washington residents who are at least 21, pass an enhanced background check and meet certain other requirements for training.

I'm a lifelong Washington state resident living in Yakima, and the wording of our state Constitution and the 2nd Amendment should be enough to have this unconstitutional usurping of our gun rights immediately overthrown by any higher court.

But in this current mode of judicial tyranny, I'm not holding my breath.

I will NOT comply.

A sheriff in rural Washington state has declared his jurisdiction a “Second Amendment Sanctuary City” - essentially saying he will not enforce the recently passed state initiative.

I thought that was very clever, and I hope all different sorts of “Conservative Sanctuaries” spring up in Conservative enclaves all across America.

There are several 2nd amendment Sanctuary Cities/areas in Oregon. I understand that if sued it would then put “Sanctuary Cities” for illegals at risk.

Abortion: "Settled law! SCOTUS rules! I don't care if it's not in the Constitution!"

Guns: "The 2nd Amendment is outdated and written by old white guys. It needs to go!"

Mob Rule, nothing more, nothing less.

The very thing our Constitution was written to prevent is blossoming before our eyes.

That sheriff (in Republic, WA) already doesn’t bother folks with guns. The town will be voting to declare ALL Federal and State laws pertaining to guns void and null.

The zero information Washington voters voted for I-1639 based upon flawed information. Much of the increase in gun deaths among teens is due to the use of guns for suicide. However, with the access to guns, suicides are done by other means. In many countries, pesticides are used. In Japan, the most common method among both genders was hanging, followed by jumping from a high place.

With all the hysteria about gun deaths, the remarkable fact is they have gone down:

An edit to my post:

“However, with the access to guns, suicides are done by other means.” should read, “However, when the access to guns are limited, suicides are done by other means.”

I might add that when access to guns are limited, homicides are done by other means.

“”A Spokane gun dealer and four Washington residents who soon will be too young””

What - they have birthdays in reverse? They get younger and not older? Tell us how to achieve that!
