The #1 driver of migration from the the north to the south is JOBS. The #2 is JOBS. The #3 is JOBS. The #4 is freedom from silly execessive government. #5 is weather.
Disproportionately, the people who migrate south for jobs are the workers who want to work but can’t find jobs up north. Disproportionately the northern jobless are Democrats from the factory towns up north from CT to MN.
But they are not hard core Democrats. Just as they are willing to change allegiance from the Cleveland Browns to the Carolina Panthers they are willing to change from Democrat to Republican... if given a reason.
But there are less conversions to Atlanta Falcons because the Falcons don’t give anyone a reason to switch. The same with Republicans.
Jobs, the economy give a reason to switch. Scapgoating illegals is no reason to switch to Republican.
If you find something else that resonates with us newcomers, go with it.
Both NJ and CT benefited for decades from their proximity to NYC, but at this point the crumbling infrastructure combined with the anti-business atmosphere (related to the financing needed for that crumbling infrastructure, as well as the financing required for the public workers’ unions and their retirements) has pushed them past the point of no return. Northern NJ recently lost the Mercedes Benz HQ to Atlanta - and those types of jobs will never return as long as companies are expected to provide all things to all people here (including the growing unemployable welfare caste, reinforced by illegal immigration for years). This recent farce, where NJ media pretended Amazon was even considering Newark NJ, highlighted all the reasons why no company should EVER move here.
I was born and raised in Florida. I’ve seen it all my life. Florida would never have voted for Obama nor would any of the elections in Florida have been remotely close if it were not for all those Northeastern transplants in South Florida.
Are you even going to try to deny the obvious truth of that?
I live in Connecticut and I’m going to stick it out. About ready to close on a new home here despite my property tax now nearing $2,000 a month. We almost got a Republican governor this year and I think 2022 will be a charm. We can only take so much more. Anybody making less than $100,000 a year are really struggling.
How many black born and bred Floridians voted for wee Barry TWICE? How many of them didn't?

If you wish to deny that the heavy influx of Northeasterners particularly into South Florida has tilted that part of the state heavily in the Democrats’ favor or that this huge influx has made it possible for the Democrats to sometimes carry Florida in national elections when before that Florida’s voting pattern had been aligned with the rest of the Southern states, you’re living in fantasyland.

Why yes, they have been for well over 100 years and many from DEM states!
Did Puerto Ricans, in the thousands relocate after the hurricane? Yes, yes they did and surprise, surprise, a whole lot of them voted GOP in the last election!
Northerners and Midwesterners have moved into Florida in large numbers and I have NOT ever, no, not even once claimed otherwise! Yet though many of these people have come from what we would call a "BLUE STATE", all of them do NOT vote for Dems and didn't vote that way in the states they were born in!
