It would be great if the ninth circuit was indeed an ‘independent judiciary’, but if it is why are so many opposing view (on border and safety) cases filed there, and why are a vast number of those cases overturned.

Roberts may be setting himself up for recusal, thus leading to a 4-4 tie and thus leaving a 9th circuit ruling to stand

Blowing smoke about the objectivity of all judges isn't taking a position on the specific issue of immigration, though. But, I'll keep your thought in mind... if it turns out to be true, it will be both brilliant and depressing.

If Roberts recuses based on his own actions impeachment should be immediate.
The Gaurdian is to the left of the NYT. That said, Roberts surprised me with what was an idiotic statement. Obongo openly criticized the SC for the citizens United decision at the SOTU address and Roberts said nothing. Everyone knows there are activitist Obama Judges. This is a bad sign. It looks like Roberts is going to be another Rat Judge as feared.
RGB could recuse, too, for her comments during the presidential campaign.

The USSC appointments were for LIFE to insure that the Judges decisions were NOT political and that a good political job wasn't at the end of their reign if they ruled a certain way.
But you can't tell me that any women on the bench would even consider the possibility of overturning Roe vs Wade. The Obama female appointments WERE political...period.....no doubt.
