How old will Sessions be in 2020? Because he can run for Senate against Doug Jones in Alabama and re-take his old seat- albeit without Senate seniority. In fact, pretty sure he would destroy Jone’s chances entirely. Game, set, match. And recoup his poor performance as AG, and restore integrity to the Senator from Alabama.

This could be.

You know, I thought the same thing — that Pete Sessions lost his seat because they mixed him up with Jeff Sessions!

I'm in Pete Sessions' district. He lost to the newbie Democrat because he's a feckless RINO who never got on the Trump Train.

They are doing so on Twitter right now.

I believe it. Some of them are delusionally rabid.

The comment you replied to was wiped. I must have mentioned the faithful by name, but that was before I saw JimRob's notice.

An excellent thought. Sessions is a known quantity to the Alabama electorate, had a good conservative rating, and is a proven vote-getter. As far as seniority goes, if the 'Pubs are still in the majority, they can come to some kind of accommodation, get him a good committee chairmanship and assignment to some other choice spots. IIRC the 'Pubs (then the significant minority) played a similar gambit when Goldwater returned to the Senate as a way of picking up the pieces from the disaster of 1964.

This whole sorry episode may be just another example of a square peg in a round hole. Sessions made for a decent, conservative southern Senator, but was a lousy administrator as the head of a branch of the Executive. That happens fairly often in politics and business. Trump understands that, I'm sure.

I’m not sure AL people would want Sessions back. They seem just fine with the liberal Jones, alas.

Romney may be the next Flake.

McCain was just plain mean, a genetically calculating and shifty character, a loveless leftist.

Flake, Murkowski and Collins were the RINO virtue-signaling Utopian leftists, hardly big on virtue. Except for occasional grandstanding.

Romney will try to be the leader of that Utopian pack and ruthless. He lives with Ann Romney, after all. He was suppose to be president, but was an uninspired man who inspired no one.
