In Minnesota 1 (an open seat), here’s what we’re looking at:

Hagedorn (R) 145,858
Feehan (D) 144,281

A difference of 1577 vote for the GOP candidate.

One precinct has not yet reported in the city of Austin in Mower County. Austin is a big labor city that the Dems do well in. But Feehan would need to win the precinct by an overwhelming amount to pull ahead.

One way or the other, this race is going to a recount.

You did fine. Your analysis was well thought out and encouraging. Nailed the Senate. The House was always an uphill battle.

For all the back and forth this was a largely predictable outcome historically. The good news is the Senate gains and the Dems projected rock stars (Beto, Gillum, Abrams) losing.

Trump got a lot done the first two years with economy, judicial, foreign affairs. He can still effectively govern in those areas. The rest will be gridlock and partisan fights, so what.

Long term, demographics are real shaky for GOP/conservatives. Georgia will be blue soon. It is what it is - best to celebrate what Trump is accomplishing now in staving off destruction.

LS, thanks for your difficult work. When all is said and done, we cannot fathom what motivates many in the Electorate. Cold just be ignorance or they have no concept of Liberty.
Not sure what else can be done.

Personally, I think the change in the SALT Deduction impacted some House Races in the Blue States. We know the individual High Tax States are to blame, but their Voters see it differently.

The so called Healthcare issue was just Leftist propaganda. We look at Obamacare as a socialist failure, they look at it like an Entitlement. Try to take the Milk Bottle from the Baby and see what happens, you lose the House.

Well said. Indies do matter - they matter a lot. Iowa - they went one way in the congressional districts and then the other way for governor.

“I’ve never seen anything like this. Rs take key senate races in FL, IN, TN, TX, MO, ND, and win gov races in AZ, TX, FL, GA, OH, MD, and a couple of NE states, but lose about 30 House seats.”

Gerrymandering seems to be the only logical explanation. Just call it the gerrymandering wave instead of the blue wave.

“Long term, demographics are real shaky for GOP/conservatives.”

Agreed. The demographics are not just racial either - although in states like Arizona, Florida and Texas, they are.

We have a large group of millenials that have been indoctrinated in schools to believe that the Democrats are a savior party. Those kids that escape indoctrination in high school are subjected to more of it in college.

From exit polling, this group broke very heavily for the Dems and I suspect that it’ll be very hard to get them into the GOP column. I liken their group to that of kids who grew up in the 60’s and never lost the leftist beliefs.

Even before yesterday’s elections, I’ve believed this nation is heading in the wrong direction. A direction that will do us no good whatsoever. I’m pessimistic about our future as a nation.

GOP WIN ALERT!

Per the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website:

Minnesota CD 1

Hagedorn (R) 146,202
Feehan (D) 144,891

GOP candidate wins, flipping a seat from blue to red. Of course, there’ll likely be a recount given the difference is 1,311 shares.

“Outside of CA and NY, it still seems for the most part that voters do not want socialism close to home, but are ok with it in D.C. They rejected socialist governors like Gillum and Abrams and Garcia and Cordray.”

Larry, I think you might want to think some more about this. Nationalized single-payer and open borders did very well at the ballot box yesterday. Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado, Minnesota and Nevada moved into the very solid blue state category yesterday. The Republicans in those states are now NOT competitive statewide. Gillum and Abrams - outright socialists - came within a whisker of winning in one supposedly “red” state and one toss-up state.

These are not good omens for the future. But Sinema in AZ is the worst message of all. An openly socialist, open borders candidate nearly defeated McSally in yet another western state turning from red to purple towards blue. Arizona very much looks like the next New Mexico...Colorado...Nevada. The west is going solidly blue.

I think your bright side view here is nice...but the storm clouds are gathering and they are looking like the perfect socialist storm.

Yeah I know a lot of post grads in the metro Atlanta area. Late 20s/early 30s, went mostly to southern colleges. They default to being liberal, hating Trump and being the SNL type voters.

They’re not very bright despite their education and good jobs.

Why are you saying McSally lost in AZ? She is ahead in vote count with 99% counted!

Free anything will ALWAYS sound better than paying it yourself. That is why the younger folks naturally love to be signed on to Medicare immediately. Unlike the seniors who have been paying Medicare tax all their working life, placing every one on Medicare/Single payer will be a spending side disaster.

Republicans are poor communicators in general. I did not see many TV Ads explaining Medicare is already headed for bankruptcy, in spite of seniors having paid taxes all their working life. Oh no..we can’t do that because that will scare the seniors. I never saw a single TV Ad showing how exactly how many Trillions shortfall there will be if everyone is installed on Medicare/single payer.

But socialism is easier to sell than self responsibility. That is why so many countries became socialist, and none, zero, nada, became prosperous under socialism.

Russia now has a flat tax! Sweden now has tax breaks for corporations! India has changed drastically from Nehru’s central planning system to private enterprise capitalism. Sadly, United States could also go through the cycle of trying socialism, and as usual will require 3-5 decades to learn the hard way.
