H. Clinton retired as SOS: Feb 1, 2013.
When do security clearances retire/stop when no longer needed?
The Personnel Security Investigation (PSI) on which the clearance is based can be either current or expired. PSIs are current if they are not more than five years old for a Top Secret clearance, 10 years old for a Secret clearance, or 15 years old for a Confidential clearance.

So Clintoons TS clearance expired this year.
After she lost the electorial ellection and Trump became president, there was zero need for her to have any exposure to classified information. She had zero need to know.
Now, she, does not have a clearance for any TS material as well as zero need to know.
She still has some very close friends that DO.
This concerns clearances under Executive Order 13526, Section 4.4 “Access by Historical Researchers and Certain Former Government Personnel.”
This is unusual, as it’s typical for a SoS and staff to retain access to their own classified recordss from their time in office. Almost certainly Hill gave it up “At her request” to save herself the embarrassment of a review that might become public.
