Top ABC brass may have acted too swiftly by pulling the plug on Roseanne - and they now fear the show's replacement spin-off will flop without its star.
Two senior executives at the network have told DailyMailTV that firing the actress was a 'knee-jerk' reaction by ABC's president and admitted that temporarily suspending Barr may have been a wiser decision.
'We didn't think it through properly. What Roseanne did was wrong but we shouldn't have rushed to fire her. It was almost a knee-jerk reaction by Ben [Sherwood] and Channing [Dungey] who should have launched an investigation,' one insider said.
'This would have given them more time to listen to the public, advertisers and cast members to determine the best decision.'
The highly-anticipated reboot of the popular 90s sitcom was axed in May, just three months into its return after Barr, 65, made a racist tweet about former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett.

Liberal networks suck.
Theyre losing viewers in droves and they still dont get it.
Live by PC, die by PC.
IMHO they’ll tank the show and eat the loss rather than back-down on their great act of virtue signaling.
LOL. LOL..
These idiot politically correct execs, now they think they were too hasty to fire Roseanne.
Maybe just maybe they will learn a lesson about knee jerk reactions to events , and actions which they took, which upon reflection were done without thinking through any consequences. And which is costing them big bucks.
How are they going to bring her character back? They killed it off.
Libs never do. About anything.
They didn’t feel guilty about firing Rosanne for telling the truth, but they do feel guilty about probably losing some of their money.
TV Guide excerpt:
Tune in to "The Conners". The family believes that Roseanne died in the hospital, but it was a case of computer error. She's suffering from amnesia due to being given the wrong medication and her case was misfiled in the computer system. Hilarity ensues ..."
Prediction:
The first episode will have huge ratings because everyone likes to look at a train wreck.
ABC will declare victory. Liberals will act smug.
Big drop off after that, but the media will move on to something else.
Since she’s a conservative she got slammed worse than the woman who said a derogatory statement against the FLOTUS.
I would suggest this...if they lose a a third of their audience numbers from last season (which I think is possible by the third episode)...then they might allow it to got through to May with the full time of episodes on the contract, then cancel it. Zero chance that they can maintain the same numbers...it’s basically designed as some drama-comedy, which no one has the humor/charm to carry the show.

Gee, ya think?
I hope the audience for this is in the dozens.
Possibly not related, but ABC saw that when Last Man Standing was cancelled, it was picked up by another network and got huge ratings. Perhaps someone is starting to wake up at ABC and understands that they are there to provide entertainment, which is paid for by advertisers, supported by large audiences. And, that it is not the job of network executives to judge someone’s personal sense of humor on social network sites and punish them for it. Just musing though, that’s all.
That is very true. I think that in this case though, a little light came on.
You can not say anything negative about poc, homosexuals,trans-whatevers,Muslims,illegals or liberal women..
Everyone else is fair game.
last man standing moved to Fox..
roseanne will likely do the same after it’s canceled.
I think it will get an audience for its first few episodes. Some will be curious onlookers who want to get a glimpse of the train-wreck. Those viewers may not make it through an entire episode. The rest will be ardent leftists supporting the decision of the ABC commissars to clamp down on a show that featured a Trump supporter. They will stick with it for a few weeks, but the show will suck so much that even those SJW viewers will drop out.
Roseanne could take her show to another network.
Create a dream scene that explains her death and fans
would love it.
Even if there are holes in writing to fix her death
fans would not care.
As long as she is back.
