Perhaps it's time to nuke the 30 hour rule.
Instead, have each candidate be available in a room for a week. Senators who want to visit and chat may do so. The Senators may log their comments into the Congressional record.
At the end of the week, voting happens for each candidate in rapid succession.
I sure would like to know exactly how many days a year Congress is actually in session.
