That's my thought as well. They thought Trump would fold and withdraw Kavanaugh. When he didn't they came up short because they only had one perjurer making baseless allegations. If they're not stopped you can be sure next time they'll have a phalanx of perjurers willing to "corroborate" each other in their sworn lies.
