Poll: Trump increasingly unpopular globally - except in Israel

While America's global image has "plummeted" during US President Donald Trump's presidency, Israelis give high marks to his administration and the country as a whole, according to the Pew Research Center.

Israelis were often three times more likely to give Trump a positive rating than those surveyed in other allied countries, including Mexico, Germany, Canada and France, according to a Pew poll released Monday.

Eight out of 10 Israelis express a favorable opinion of the United States and more than half believe that America is doing more to address global problems than a few years ago.

"Israel also tops the list in terms of the share of the public (79 percent) saying that relations with the US have improved in the past year," Pew reported, citing the longtime tensions between Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and former US President Barack Obama.

In Israel, Trump's "positive rating jumped to 69 percent, up from 56 percent in 2017" on the heels of his decision to move the US Embassy, according to the report.

By contrast, other allies have complained that Trump, who has promoted an "America First" agenda that disdains international institutions and free trade, "doesn’t take into account the interests of countries like theirs when making foreign policy decisions." Favorable views of the US have fallen by 34 points in Mexico, 27 points in Germany, 26 points in Canada and 25 points in France.

GMTA. And Obama did such a wonderful job, witness the Iran nuclear deal, the Muslim Brotherhood, North Korea, etc. Not to mention the fine accomplishments of his well known Secretary of State.

Well, my estimation of the value of the rest of the world is steadily declining, except for Israel.

I can’t count the hours of sleep lost over worrying about what people who herd goats and lack plumbing (or generally refuse to use it) think of the US.

As if we give a flying #(@*.

For 50 years, we bent over backwards to make everybody like us, and we got 9/11 for our troubles. Now, I don’t give a shit if anyone likes us, but they better damned well fear us!

Very effective managers are often unpopular. This tells me Trump is doing lots of stuff right. Trump is interested in promoting the US instead of other countries. MAGA

The countries that have been fleecing the USA for decades don’t like our President’s America First doctrine. Too bad. It’s time we take care of our own country first.

It's ‘cool’ in Europe to be anti-American. Trump is one of the most pro-American presidents we've had in a long time. Of course they don't like him.

Germany started two world wars, and the United States protected the rest of Europe from Germany - including emancipating France. That Europe can find its way to being anti-American is the ultimate in being ungrateful and blinded by liberalism/socialism.

In Mexico, the image of Donald J. Trump has improved, among the rank and file. People are starting to like him, despite the continually putting him down by CNN ESPAÑOL.

“Poll: Trump increasingly unpopular globally...”

I’m sure he’s all broken up about that.

Interesting enough, the first lady of France would be doing time in America. But that is besides the point. The reality is that this is just a huge push poll. News outlets, increasingly run by just a few billionaires have been relentless in their damning of Trump as well as the deplorables that vote for him.
The rest of the world may not like Trump, but more and more they are forming their own National Democracy parties where they demand that their politicians work for the voters. Something that rarely happens in Europe.

The US has been bending over backwards to give other countries concessions that usually involve us getting bad trade deals or shouldering the financial burdens of treaty agreements. Now that Trump is insisting that any deal must be fair to both sides (i.e. “America first”), the other countries are complaining that they have to pay and do more.

Of course Trump’s popularity is going down in those other countries. He’s told them that the US is not their sugar daddy any more.
