Counsel tells senators 'reasonable prosecutor' would not bring Ford case against Kavanaugh

In a memorandum to Republican senators, Rachel Mitchell says a "reasonable prosecutor" would not bring a case against Brett Kavanaugh based on Christine Blasey Ford's sexual assault allegation given the evidence presented to the Judiciary Committee.

But Mitchell, the sex crimes prosecutor hired by Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans who questioned Ford last Thursday, also notes, "A Senate confirmation hearing is not a trial, especially not a prosecution."

Mitchell cites inconsistencies in Ford's statements to the committee, The Washington Post, and her therapist about the alleged assault, which Ford alleges took place when she and Kavanaugh were in high school.

It's good that she pointed this out.

There is just an accusation, no proof.

if it didn’t happen, why should it affect his job application?

“this isn’t a trial”

the media and Democrat Senators have echoed that claim.

“what difference does it make at this time anyhow”

they love their “fake but accurate” “seriousness of the charges”

no one should be denied such a seat because of a partisan smear campaign

If it’s a “job interview”, how many men in their mid-50s sitting for a job interview are asked about events that happened at high school parties when they were 17?
Especially when there isn’t a shred of proof that anything happened.

This is idiotic.

That might be the sort of future the Left wants for us.

The thought of being able to blow up any male they desire by leveling a false accusation has them salivating.

Rachel Mitchell pointed out the lack of proof for Ford’s claims and the FBI will report the same thing.

We knew everything about Kavanaugh before her allegation was made public, it still wouldn’t change the fact its not even a crime for which he could be prosecuted today.

Do we really want to hold a juvenile offense over a grown man’s head for his entire life? Reasonable people would say “no”.

The Senate should follow suit and vote accordingly.

“The thought of being able to blow up any male they desire by levelling a false accusation has them salivating.”

Absolutely! This is the whole point of the #Metoo movement. It is all about control and power and for the Dems to be in charge of it. The fact that there may be the occasional Hollywood type or left politician that has to take one for the team does not mean this is a legitimate movement or that they will take on power without fear or partiality. The fact that two of its faces are self admitted witches and that one of them has been accused of molesting a boy ought to alert people to the fact that they need to be challenged on everything that say or do!

Interesting isn’t it that this report only went to Republicans?
Why don’t the Democrats want to hear from a Woman who has 25 years in these cases, tell them you could not even get a warrant, let alone never get in a courtroom with this bunch of inconsistencies.
But of course our esteemed Senate Chambers are so much more exalted than a courtroom, filled with all the honorable individuals elected by an informed public.
I’m sure this report will be front page news be featured on CNN,MSNBC,ABC,CBS,NBC.

Doesn’t matter. Flake will likely vote NO. For him this is all about Trump.

The prosecutor was hired by Republicans.

There is a vote scheduled for the end of the week agreed to by all 51 Republicans. Its done.

That memo will give cover to Flake and the Weak Sisters. Unless something new comes up, Kavanaugh’s confirmation seems all but assured.

Here’s the complete NINE page pdf of Rachel Mitchell’s analysis of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s Allegations. Linked from Mark Levin’s twitter feed.

Clean and much easier to read.

Mitchell redeems herself here, with a thorough analysis of the matters she discussed with Ford.

Still, I maintain that a competent defense attorney could have destroyed Ford's credibility without her even knowing what was happening. No shouting, no theatrics would have been necessary. Just careful, calm questioning.

For example, in Ford's opening statement she claims the party she attended “was like many that summer....” Many!!!!! Why wasn't she grilled on this???

Ford also says that as to Kavanaugh “we did not know each other well....” Well lady, just how well did you know him!?! Again, this was never pursued.

Dems will find many unreasonable prosecutors to write a letter saying it is a slam dunk case.
