With the Senate Judiciary Committee holding a vote at 9:30 A.M. tomorrow, a Senate insider has told Townhall that Kavanaugh has the votes to make it out of committee and the votes to be confirmed on the floor for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. Sens. Flake (R-AZ), Collins (R-ME), Murkowski (R-AK), and Manchin (D-WV) are expected to vote in favor of Kavanaugh. All the Republicans are voting yes. Also, in the rumor mill, several Democrats may break ranks and back Kavanaugh. Thats the ball game, folks.
It was an intense and hellacious day at the Senate Judiciary Committee. Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing Judge Brett Kavanaugh of an attempted rape while at a high school party, told her story of her alleged sexual assault. It was intense. It was emotional. And it still lacked evidence, witnesses, and other corroborating details. Its an unprovable allegation, which is what Democrats want; it allows them to delay and run out the clock on this nomination. The FBI investigation talking point has been beaten to death by Senate Democrats, another delay tactic that has been undercut by past remarks by none other than Joe Biden. When he chaired the committee during the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings, Biden famously said that FBI reports are inconclusive and should not be relied on during sexual misconduct allegations.
Brett Kavanaugh testified later this afternoon, giving an emotional and fiery defense of his character and career after it had been under a sustained assault by the Left for over a week. Kavanaugh said that the allegationsall three of themwere false and have irreparably damaged his reputation and damaged his family life. He said this process had become a national disgrace, with Democrats replacing advise and consent with search and destroy. Kavanaugh needed to come out swinging. He needed to be tough. And he did just that.
You need to get Ving Rhames to say it, like in the Arby’s Commercial, “We Have The Votes!”
It’s all over after Tuesday. It appears Grahamnesty walked Flake across the bridge last night.
I was thinking about this last night. They have no idea the fury they have wrought.
Just imagine the death threats alone. Yourself, meh. But you get people threatening your wife and kids ?
That WILL leave a mark.
Stupid democrats
I will inventory the armory as well.
great point! I’d forgotten about the commie judges in Hawaii.
(but of course, any such judicial “ruling” would be unconstitutional on its face...I am certain the nominee would get on the court after all...
step 1... PDJT issues a “written commission” to Kavanaugh (pro forma little piece of paper) and
step 2 ...Kavanaugh takes both oaths of office (one is the special oath for the job required by the Judiciary Act of 1789, the other is the usual oath to defend USA etc required for all federal workers). These oaths are customarily administered by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court but can be administered by ANY judge or public officer (justice James Wilson was sworn in by the mayor of Philadelphia... not much change of that today, eh? ha ha, but it would be legal....and justice T. Marshall was sworn in by associate justice Hugo Black, etc.)
No problem foreseeable, smile smile smile
This is a Pyrrhic victory.
Why?
We did not punish the dirty ba$tards who did this to a good man. There needs to be pay back.
I will not breathe a sigh of relief until AFTER the vote.
I’m rethinking this today. Graham is my senator. Never voted for him and never will. (rabid anti-trumper in 2016 +amnesty + badly damaged branding)There were other senators who are more conservative, more moral and more likely to speak out.I think of all the RINO’s up for reelection in 2020 Graham is the most likely to lose a primary if there’s a conservative challenger. probably that’s why McConnell and shumer gave the free air time to him. If they suckered us all in with theater again and had the votes all along then the only mystery remaining is how McConnell and shumer will divy up the free air time. (they’ll certainly make it last long enough to shove another obama style spending bill thru with little media scrutiny so as to minimize pissing off conservative R’s.
guess they cast doubt on the townhall story. If it was all over but the voting , McConnell and shumer’s free air time next week wouldn’t be worth much. Uniparty knows how to pack’em in for kibuki theater.
I’m correct about this...what he has been going through is far more TRAUMATIC than what Ford claims she went through 36 years ago!
The “HIGH TECH LYNCHING” sent Thomas father right and as bad as the Thomas hearings were, this mess against Kavanaugh has been worse. Nobody can go through this crap, without being changed.
EXACTLY ! :-)
I think it’s more that they knew him during the Bush years. Same college gets you an interview probably. I doubt it would normally go much deeper than that. But who knows?
‘I will not breathe a sigh of relief until AFTER the vote.’
You didn’t trust Flaky Flake?
Correct, but Flake did not say he would not vote for kavanaugh, he said he wanted this for the healing of the divide..I think he was saying Kavanaugh will be confimed..and he wanted there to be a real reason given to the dims..
No, and with good reason, obviously.
Its all theater!
DiFi needs to be “super-duper” leftwing in order to beat DeLeon. The rest is to motivate the moonbat portion of their base. Its hard to see what Flake gets out of this other then an opportunity to kick sand in Trumps eyes. Maybe for him thats enough!
Must be dims that are running for reelection and it is going to be close for them.
