I think the author is asking about someone who is ALIVE... otherwise, I could identify a lot of decent but dead Democrats.

I was a Democrat in my younger days. Yet Henry Jackson, Hubert Humphrey, JFK, Zell Miller, and even RFK and Daniel Patrick Moynihan would not be welcome in today’s Democrat Party, which has become the operational arm of the CPUSA.
I did not know Zell Miller passed away earlier this year. He was the last of the patriotic Democrats, known for his “spitballs” speech at the 2004 Republican National Convention. He was a Marine who loved his country.
